Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThere was nothing unsatisfactory about our stay.
The facilities were incredibly clean, staff was so friendly and helpful. The view of the ocean and the sound of the waves at night were unbeatable. Very quiet and peaceful property, despite being so close to downtown Kona. We considered the no TV or A/C a plus, because we were very present during this stay and loved keeping the screen door open at night to let in the cool sea breeze. Would absolutely stay here again!

United Stateshumidity in the small bathroom can get uncomfortable quick but that's the trade off for the sea breeze and the ocean at your feet.
It's impossible to be unhappy with the location. Was pretty humid but got used to it quickly. The water crashing outside the balcony was everything and the pool area was relaxing and lovely; towel service was great

United StatesThe hotel says they have limited parking, but we didn't have a problem - it was never full. The lot is a bit tight though...
The Kona Tiki is in a great location. It is literally right on the water because there is no beach. This was a good thing. You can hear the surf pounding against the rocks, and we were mesmerized for hours watching the wave roll in from our balcony. The pool is right next to the ocean, separated by a sea wall that was occasionally over-topped by a bit of wave spray. The hotel is older (no elevator) but the rooms have been updated and are quite modern. Finally, it is right on the main road, but road noise is minimal because of the roar of the beach. A reasonable 15 minute (3/4 mile) walk gets you into downtown Kona restaurants and waterfront. We will stay here again.

United StatesI can’t say I didn’t like anything! If I had to say anything, parking was a little tight but it was manageable. It was free, which makes up for any inconvenience though.
Spacious, reasonable and clean, with a balcony over the water. Hotel was very responsive to communications. Beach stuff available to borrow and location made it easily walkable to downtown Kailua Kona. Green Flash was a short walk for coffee and breakfast.

AustriaNothing negative to say.
Great hotel directly at the ocean, where you hear the stunning waves of the Pacific right in your bedroom. The rooms are spacious and have a modern look and feel. Bed was comfy. Restaurants, shops, and small beaches are close by.

United KingdomParking is slightly tight in a smallish car park but never had a problem getting a space 15 min walk into Kona is ok but can be dark in the evening - no sidewalk but safe as there is a bike lane in both directions.
Fantastic ocean view Accommodation and building kept up to a high standard No need for AC as right on the coast with constant breeze Lovely little pool area

United StatesNo elevator, no AC, no bathroom vent. Even without those things, the stay was still wonderful!
Looking for a comfortable, simple place to stay? Look no further! Kona Tiki Hotel is just the place. With stunning oceanfront balconies, comfortable beds, friendly staff, the stay is wonderful. Check in process was a breeze, the staff will text you all the info needed. Pool was nice, with a wonderful ocean view. Some ocean water even splashes over the lava rock wall! There is no TV, and we don’t have a full kitchen-just mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker. There were a few dishes too. No vent in the bathroom, but there is a high window that’s open. No AC, but the ocean breeze and fans kept us comfortable. We ended up having a small cooler and beach mat we couldn’t take with us, and the staff agreed to let us leave them for the hotel to use for other guests. So nice!

United StatesSmall parking lot, which was able to accommodate us every night we stayed, so not even really worth mentioning. We LOVED that we could communicate with the owners through text only, and never had to face to face with anyone- so if you are someone who wants to schmooze with the owners, this is maybe not the place for you, but we loved this aspect of our stay!
Where do I start? I could not have anticipated how much I would love kona tiki hotel. I almost don't want to review this hotel because I want it to stay my little secret spot. Waking up in the morning to the sound and sight of the ocean is so lovely. The balcony is like your own little private surf watching spot. The pool is your own private sunset spot. These are important points because certain spots in Kona get very crowded, and it is SO NICE to just have your own little slice of uncrowded heaven. Of the three places we stayed in Big Island, this had the most comfortable bed, provided complimentary drip coffee to be made in the room (surprising the other places didn't!), and complimentary beach things (snorkle goggles, boogie board, books, UNO cards, etc). The staff were so polite and quick with towel exchange. The room was clean and the hotel location was walking distance to the main strip, so if you dont want to drive there (and pay for parking!) you can just take a leisurely 10-15min walk over to the shops and restaurants.
