Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesThere was a convention at the hotel. The elevators were very busy. There were no other options (stairs) instead of waiting in the lobby for the elevators to be free.
Finding the hotel was very easy. It was very convenient to other sites that we wanted to visit. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was a nice touch.

United States(1) Upon booking, we asked for a crib for our room. We got an email confirming that they can provide us a pack n play. But upon check in, we were informed that they had already given out all of their pack n plays. (2) The phone tree is annoying AF. I just want to speak to a representative!! (3) The bathroom door is frosted glass so it’s impossible to have the bathroom light on without flooding the room with light. (4) The shower water pressure was terrible (but not surprising given how big the hotel is). (5) The app they encourage you to download and use was worthless. I couldn’t connect my account and the reservation for some reason.
Upon booking, we asked for a room on the upper levels and away from the elevator since we were traveling with our 7 month old baby. The hotel was able to accommodate and it was pleasantly quiet. I loved the elevator system. You put in the floor you want to go to, and the system tells you which elevator to wait for.

United Arab EmiratesOur kids were visiting Washington DC for the first time and we booked for five nights; I wrote in advance asking for a decent view within the range we paid for. We arrived early for check in and we got a terribly located room with the view to a dirty back alley, some walls and ledges with dropped trash. The kids were devastated. When I asked for change I was told there is a monument view (we didn’t pay for it), street view (we chose that) and no view (??). There was no such option (no view) on the Marriott website when I booked. I was just expecting a street view. The staff made an effort to help us and we got our room changed for the next 4 nights. The room service menu was limited and we somehow ended up with an old QR code in our room, so every time I tried to order something the staff were surprised because what I was ordering and what they had didn’t match. Terrible hassle having to speak to a bot every time you want to order food through room service. If you don’t get transferred to a real person on the first try (most of the time you try), you have to call back and go through the bot. At times it took 20-30 minutes to put in an order, taken by a real person. Once you got through to a person - they were very nice and helpful. Concierge team were fabulous.
The location is fantastic.

United StatesPrices at the hotel gift shop were silly. 14 for a chocolate candy bar, 5.50 for a bag of chips. It's absurd. The price for parking and taxes was quite high as well. Also, for the silly resort fee, you don't even get elevated wifi. What am I getting for that fee?

United StatesYou pay for EVERYTHING. Parking our car for 3 days was over $200 and is NOT included in hotel fee. There is a $32 destination fee for each night. They offer to compensate that by using it towards room service or tickets to other attractions. Our trip was booked up in terms of tours so we had no use for the extra attractions. $5 charge for room service. No free breakfast. It started at $27 per person. Also, TV doesn’t have very many channels unless you are a sports fan. No premium channels at all. After a day packed with sightseeing, would have been nice to have more viewing options to relax to at night. Only other negative was the bath robe and towels were hard and stiff. Not a pleasure to wear or use. Beds and sheets however were very comfy.
You are paying for location here. Hotel is positioned close to Smithsonian and White House. Staff was very nice and helpful. Rooms are smaller than they appear online but are comfortable and clean.
