Ants! There were what seemed like more than normal numbers of ants. I realize we were at the beach but not outside? There was not a mirror in the room outside of the small mirror in the bathroom. The lighting was not very good but that was okay for a leisure stay.

Side beach view was actually nice from the balcony. I had some concerns about that when I booked the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

It’s always great to stay at the John Yancey! The king room is spacious and the bed is very comfortable. The shower is awesome and breakfast is an added bonus - try a Belgian waffle!

Only chair was a rolling desk chair. Would have liked a stationary chair. Only mirror was in bathroom. Would have liked another mirror in the room or on the back of the door

When I first stepped in the lobby, it smelled so clean and nice. The young lady was so sweet and polite. Our room was amazing! Remodeled and very clean, cute little coffee pot (but not enough for me and my husband lol) It was my first time here in Kill Devil Hill and we really enjoyed it.

AC was a bit noisy. You could hear conversations from the rooms next door. The door to the hallway was not a good fit, lots of light seen around the edges. Would have preferred a lock bar or chain on the door. There was a dead bolt.

The location was great. Great access to the ocean. Nice pool. Nice continental breakfast. Clean. Comfortable bed. Nice shower.

The only bummer was that there wasn’t a scrambled egg or vegetarian breakfast sandwich option. Hard boiled is good, but scrambled eggs and toast would have been excellent. But there were lots of restaurants right down the road!

The views were incredible! And our room was perfect, exactly what we were hoping for. The Inn was right in the center of lots of places to go and experiences to try!

Our key fobs stopped working and we had to have the batteries changed on the door lock, but it was taken care of in about 20 minutes.

The location is incredible. Our room overlooked the ocean and we were able to get out onto the beach very quickly. The hotel is also located near tons of shops and restaurants.

This was our third time staying here. Staff are very friendly, the dune top deck is beautiful, but many people just hanging out smoking on. It. Our room was standard 2 queen beds, but definitely seemed more like 2 doubled. The shelf in the bathroom was falling off so couldn't use it. All in all it was a great time and will definitely return

Wonderful location, close to beach and anything else you could need. Very clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly and accommodating. I read some negative reviews but honestly I don’t know why this hotel would warrant them. I couldn’t imagine being here on the outer banks and being so put out by such trivial matters as in these reviews. Here is the deal. If you want an ocean front view then read the room description and book one. They are more expensive and rightly so. Otherwise, you will not have an ocean view because you booked the cheapest option. I requested ground floor and was accommodated. They had housekeeping daily. The room was clean when we got there. The air conditioner worked wonderfully. I think someone mentioned it was loud. I didn’t notice that. Even if I did I wouldn’t mention it. The dang thing kept the room cold like I like it. I don’t care how it sounds. The pool was lovely and not crowded. You could tell they took care of the grounds and maintaining the pool area. Now to the FREE continental breakfast. It’s offered from 7-10. They had PLENTY of options to choose from including waffles, breakfast sandwiches, cereal, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, breads for toast, pastries, coffee, juices and I’m sure other things I am forgetting. It was well stocked and those lovely ladies running it made sure to keep it that way. You could tell they were working hard to keep the guest happy. I saw complaints about this free confidential breakfast and seriously all I could do was shake my head. Lastly they have added (new since our last visit) a beautiful large gazebo style beach entrance. It’s gorgeous and has ample room and seating. The staff was very friendly. This was another negative in some reviews that I cannot wrap my head around. This was not our experience at all. The staff was nice and helpful.

Inevitable beach things like the feeling of sand everywhere and some moist carpet smell due to the humidity- but otherwise it was pretty perfect!

The access to the beach was fantastic. Great amenities like a water refill station, a breakfast with tons of choices, and a nice gazebo by the beach. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms were nicely finished and appointed.

I was a little disappointed in the fact that I booked 2 rooms and they were in completely different buildings. I paid for the 2 rooms and ended up with a room behind the check in desk and the other one was oceanfront. I really don't remember requesting a quiet room, but it was a quiet area.
