Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyWe booked a room for 6 people and we knew it would have had a sofa bed instead of a third bed, but the sofa bed could not be considered as such. It had practically no mattress, very worn out, VERY VERY uncomfortable! Like, we got backaches for a week because of that. And when we told them, the only thing they could do was give us ONE blanket to put on the “mattress” to make it “more comfortable”. I would recommend just paying for a second room and not for the sofa bed thing. That will ruin your sleep and your vacation.
Breakfast was fantastic, not much diversification, but it was very good. I would add some options for lactose intolerant and celiac people, but they could probably have helped if I asked. Rooms were spacious and always very very clean. The staff was always ready to help however they could and always very friendly. The position is great, careful though, now you can’t travel from New York City to New Jersey with the same metro card, but you have to buy a new ticket. Rooms were very quiet even if the hotel is on a busy street. There’s a target and a different supermarket close to the hotel, also a pizzeria and other places to eat fast food and buy other things.

United KingdomSofa bed is awful, and I don't accept this is a convenience over comfort thing. Just get some better mattresses. We only had a nine year old on it, so just put the sofa cushions on top of the mattress, problem solved. Location s is next to very busy roads, which take a long time to get across. Could do with a bar.
Brilliant location for visiting Manhattan. We stayed here for a week and once we got our bearings, we used the station at Newport, next to the shopping centre. This seemed much closer than Hoboken Station and was a much nicer walk. Breakfast is fine - it is true there aren't enough tables, but you can either go earlier to get a table or just grab what you want and take back to your room... it's free! My wife and kids loved the cinnamon rolls, and there are plenty of Greek yoghurt, eggs, omelette, sausage, etc. Rooms were spacious and clean. We checked out at 11, and the hotel tagged our luggage and kept behind reception until it was time to be picked up for the airport. Very close to Target and Acme supermarkets and also over the road from a large liquor store. Overall, it was a good, clean hotel and we enjoyed our stay.

GermanyThe staff was rude especially the manager and morning front desk person. It is supposed to provide a payment slip after the stay but the hotel staff simply mentioned "As you booked via booking.com, we are not supposed to provide any payment slip". Secondly, I waited around 20 minutes for him while he was just scrolling on Google to answer me (totally unacceptable).
it was a good experience and alls good in general.

United StatesThe parking situation. I think it is okay to charge for parking (specially in a place like NY/NJ) but they could definitely charge a more reasonable price for guests. We already pay a considerable amount of money for the night. There are garages in NY that charged me less than the hotel charged me.
It was definitely clean, which is the most important thing for me in an accommodation.

CanadaThe receptionist and his rude way , not welcoming and his name was Leo and I think he is assistant manager which makes it worse cause a person with his position doesn't know how to treat his residents that's really so weird and cruel......
Receptionist was terrible, not a small smile on his face and being a bit rude when he answers you back although I didn't say anything to him and although I booked 2 rooms and 1 was only ready at 4 pm when I arrived although check in is 3 pm but still I wasn't upset or angry but the way he didn't smile or say any welcome words wasn't so nice and I Kade the comment straight forward in his face and he responded back very calmly and didn't react or apologized for his rude way..... This did not give me a good impression about the hotel but other than this everything was OK....

GermanyEntrance was not off Main Street, and the entrance that is to the street was locked when we arrived. We had tried to cancel as our plans changed a d they wouldn’t make an exception, even though their website stated for guests who booked directly could have canceled free for another 40 min. (We were 20 min past the booking deadline for free cancellation.) I thought this was a bit strict and not customer friendly.

United StatesThere was no parking available for our car, we had to park on the street and it felt a bit unsafe to do so even though nothing happened to our vehicle. The breakfast could improve, the area for breakfast was very small and seating was limited, we had to eat standing up for a while until someone left their table, the staff at the breakfast area seemed stressed and overwhelmed, some people were messy, there was a lot of trash everywhere, syrup on the counters, the tables were left uncleaned and we had to clean up our own table before we sat down to eat.
Our room was super clean and we had lots of toiletries and clean extra sheets etc for the pull out couch. The view of the City View room was amazing, we were able to watch the fireworks over NYC and he Hudson from the comfort of our room. Excellent value for one night.
