At the beginning of our arrival, they gave us room 103 but the toilet flush was not working. Luckily, the staff were nice about it and changed our room to 214. The breakfast closed at 9:30 am, which is way too early. There wasn’t any time to actually enjoy and eat the food, and the food variety was disappointing. Not all the staff are friendly. We mainly came to this hotel because the pool caught our attention, but when we arrived the pool was closed. When we asked why, they said it was in maintenance, but that was never mentioned when we did the reservation. They blamed Booking.com and claimed that they told them it was temporarely closed, but Booking.com didn’t inform their customers. I am in contact with Booking.com to resolve this issue to get compensated. In the rooms, the bathroom does not have a shower curtain. We did our best to not get a drop of water outside the shower. The room also had some scratches and stains in most places. The room wasn’t thoroughly clean, as we found a spiderweb on the ceiling.

Good room size. Free parking. Location is near lots of nice shops. Internet was good.

The front desk clerk on duty at check in was new and left on his own on a very busy day for Detroit. He did wonderful!

The bathtub drain was clogged, while taking a shower the water built up to two or 3 inches deep. Shower curtain had a large and obvious hole in it as well- basically at eye level, so hard to miss. Bathroom faucet was touchy, if I didn’t push it down exactly right it would continue to run. Keurig in the room was also broken. The only reason I cared to use the Keurig is because when I drank the final sips of the coffee I had gotten from the urn in the dining area of the hotel, I found my mouth full of coffee grounds, which was highly unpleasant. Also, not the fault of anyone at the hotel obviously but there is a ridiculous amount of construction going on on I-75. For someone who’s not familiar with the area this was a major headache to navigate. Overall I felt that my experience didn’t live up to the brand or the price. front desk workers were exceptional 👍🏻

The workers were very friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room was large.

The pool was not available and we were not informed of this at check in. Instead we all got changed, went down to the pool area and were met with a paper sign. We should have been informed at check in that the pool was unavailable. There was also some minor damage to the walls in one of our rooms when we arrived.

Close enough to where we were going that we would stay again if we plan another trip to royal oak area.

It offered a hot breakfast, but they did not have any milk or individual coffee creamer for customers on our first day. this was very disappointing and unacceptable. they could have had the manager go to the local grocery and at least obtain some milk that they could have served in a pitcher. On our second day they did have these items available.

Found empty can in room. No one at front desk for more than 20 min. My husband lent tool to a wonderful gentleman . Really? Guests have to assist employees? Employee thanked my husband and returned tool, but really? I was in Healthcare for 37 years. No excuses for lack of staff. Most abuse of customer care ever. IGH should comp our next stay. Never again. And do not throw Covid in my face, because I can give you John's Hopkins documentation on transmission of Covid. I have stayed in hotels in the past four months, and this Holiday Inn Express was the worst, with the highest expectations.

Sorta clean, if I was other than white I would have felt special. I would have felt special if corporate would have been there 2 days earlier.

my room had dirty rags in it and a empty razor pack in the bathroom. above me was so much banging and stomping i could barely rest. the ice machine wasn’t on my floor i had to go down to the lobby
