Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThere's a night club right next door which is very loud and woke us up at 0:30 am. They stop at 1:30 am but if you're around on a Friday or Saturday, be prepared--or join the folks on their party
Superbly located right in front of the beach, with great views from the balcony of our room, and/or from their rooftop ("High"). Their staff went above and beyond, Miguel, who checked us in made sure we have the best possible experience during our stay.

United StatesIt sounds silly to even complain about, but there is only one elevator, and it is a relatively large hotel, so often times we had to wait or walk up to the sixth floor, where our room was.
This was our first time staying at this hotel, and we loved it. It’s a very modern hotel and exceptionally clean. The staff is just as wonderful. The hotel is located steps away from Venice Beach. We did choose the added on breakfast which had limited options, but we’re all delicious and freshly made.

CanadaThe extra charge for hotel amenities was a surprise and felt like a money grab considering the high cost of the rooms. The bikes were in poor condition and can be fixed up with a little basic maintenance (e.g the handlebars were loose on several). It’s a shame there was no pool or hot tub at this beachside hotel! The carpet in the room felt grimy and could use a deep clean. There were no hotel slippers either :(
Fantastic location on Venice Beach, close to everything, which made it easy to come and go throughout the day. Good breakfast options with lots of variety. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Large rooms with trendy decor, comfortable beds. Access to useful amenities such as bikes, beach towels, etc.

United StatesWe have two small children (4 and 7) and we’re missing a pool. The location can be great right on Venice beach/ muscle beach, but not very suitable for young children. Not a lot of child friendly restaurants nearby although Great White across the hotel worked well for our family. The hotel has a great rooftop bar but after 8pm it’s not allowed for below audience 21 as they serve alcohol. So in summary great hotel for couple / friends getaway but would not recommend this hotel for families with younger children. Nearby Santa Monica is a more child friendlier option!
Great hotel for couples and friends. Great breakfast, friendly staff, nice room: comfortable beds and shower.

MexicoIt was an expensive hotel (just like any other near that area.)
The biggest plus Hotel Erwin had was the service and attention we recieved by Khody at the front desk. Not only did he go out of his way to help us with any request we had, he did it with a voice so smooth it could make a wolverine purr. The rest was as advertized, good hotel with a great view and great location.

Australiacarpet in bedroom was really basic and cheap. The breakfast was simple - same thing every day (scrambled eggs, toast, fried potatoes, pancakes etc) fine for a quick fuel up. Drinks at the bar seemed very weak
Close to the beach. Cute restaurants around. Great White across the road has fantastic Australian style coffee and breakfast. Rooms were large and clean. front desk staff were good. Security guard was around in the lobby. area is eclectic but still felt safe. You can walk to venice canals & Abbott Kinney

HungaryWe stayed in expensive beacfront suit, because we wanted to enjoy the ocean view. Well, the beachfront suit looks at a parking lot and the ugly, dirty backyards of the beach front line shops. Strange people doing strange thing in parking lot. Really disappointing to see this instead of the ocean. Especially from 1st floor! (Which is for some reason numbered as 3xx) And there are no shades or black-out curtains on the window only ses-through sheer curtain! So after dark for sure everyone can see in your room and the lamp post in the parking lot is reflecting straight to your bed. (Maybe in higher floor it is better, and partial side views to the oceans have actually a nicer view) Breakfrast is nice but the place is super tiny so hard to find a table to sit.
Spacious, very comfortable well equiped, nice, clean rooms; super helpfull staff, special thanks to Alejandra at the reception!). Bed is large, pillows are great. Beach towels provided

United KingdomBedroom too small for two people - not enough space for a bedside table or reading light on both sides and barely enough room to get in and out of bed. I’ve stayed here alone several times and it’s been fine but really not for sharing. Room smelt quite damp and musty.
Great location; laid-back atmosphere; living room in suite was generous (but see comment about the bedroom; free breakfast (though very basic). Very helpful staff.
