The location is out of town but not so far that it's a problem. The views are beautiful, the host very friendly, and the breakfast was good. Don't be put off by the dirt road. It is well-maintained although a bit bumpy in places. We would definitely return to this property for a longer stay.

This place is amazing! If you are looking for a Rancho experience where you want to relax with a nature around you that the spot! Family who owns this place are so nice and prepare great breakfast for you! There are horses, cows, and friendly dogs which can't wait to play with you or join your for a walk!

Nothing, it was everything we needed.

The place is absolutely amazing. I think it is on one of the most beautiful properties in pagosa. The cabine lodging was perfect for us as we got lucky and had the place all to our selves. The host is very sweet and cooked us an amazing breakfast each morning. The breakfast area is in the main lodge that is this spectacular huge great room with more views looking out at the pristine property. For us it just couldn't be any better.

The only thing I noticed was the outside area was a little cluttered. This could be coming out of winter and prepping for summer. It is a working ranch, so I wouldn't expect to see pristine, resort-like surroundings. Overall, it was exceptional!

Loved absolutely everything! Evelyn is a true gem!! The lodge and scenery are astounding. Breakfast was the best I've had anywhere. I would choose to stay here every time I'm in this area!!

Our bathroom was a short distance down the hall and the room didn't have a sink in it, which was a bit of an inconvenience. But we were the only ones on that level and had the bathroom to ourselves.

This is a very nice property with plenty of space to walk your dog given it's in a more remote area. The owners and staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts are delicious! Very pretty views and very quiet.

The trip from Pagosa Springs to the B and B was considerable. Probably because of the time of year, some of the roads were difficult. Directions given by the host were excellent, but I do not recommend trying to find the place in the dark--many turns and road changes. Breakfast was OK. The lighting in the apartment needs to be improved for reading, and the TV connections and internet were somewhat difficult for us manage. Our dog loved playing with the host puppy, but some areas were very muddy.

Beautiful ranchlike location outside Pagosa Springs. The hostess was friendly and helpful. We stayed in an apartment which was very convenient. The whole complex of buildings would be great for a small family reunion. Very nice kitchen and bathroom areas. The hostess was very helpful in figuring out road conditions over the near by passes. The bed was very comfortable and everything was very clean. Interesting western decor. Parking was very easy. There is a gas fireplace which provided warmth and a cozy environment.

This is not on Elk Trace, but the road was a bit of a kidney shaker. However, because the views are spectacular, it is minor inconvenience.

Evelen was a great host. We enjoyed our morning conversations with her. A couple of days, we were the only guests having breakfast, and one day she cooked eggs benedict that was delicious.

Little mildew smells with the towels and sheets but nothing terrible!!

Love staying at Elktrace! We stay here very time we visit Pagosa Springs! We love the property and the views, the horses, the peace and tranquility and of course Evelyn!! She is so accommodating!! Treats all the guests like family!! I love staying here… I love the ranch-country living. If you don’t like animals or ranch smells; probably stay at a hotel in town! This place is for people who are truly looking for a place away from everything with the opportunities of petting horses and getting a little dirty!! Our dog, Leroy is heaven when we visit. All the smells and animals and pastures to run wild and fetch his tennis ball! It’s our favorite!

We loved the location, the ambiance, and the facilities. Breakfast was delicious every single day! We were made to feel like family, especially since we stayed during Easter weekend, and invited to join everyone for Easter dinner.

The road to the location is not paved, and if you don't have a 4WD in the winter (we did) it could be rough getting there with heavy snowfall. Not really a negative - it's the Colorado Rockies!

We were provided with a 1500+ square foot building to stay in with high-end amenities. This place was AWESOME! The hosts were very friendly, and the breakfast experience/venue was tremendous. Words cannot describe how wonderful this lodge and the hosts were.

We had been traveling all day and needed a place to stay and we found this beautiful bed & breakfast. It exceeded all expectations. The hostess was so kind and gracious and even made me the best breakfast! I truly didn’t want to leave. It is a gorgeous place, clean, warm, loving… all the happy things. Highly recommend!
