A Fabulous Oasis in the Heart of the City
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • King Room with Balcony
    • Stayed 1 night

Nothing beyond the 24 hours we had there - would have loved to have stayed longer.

Absolutely LOVED El Amador. I cannot fault it in any way, it was definitely my favourite stop on our recent tour of Arizona. Great Hosts (we had a very last minute 'special' requirement which they sorted right away), the room was full of character, the whole site is blessed with immaculate furnishings and fixtures, it's a beautifully appointed series of rooms and the whole complex, with it's open forum/water features and gardens is a little Oasis in the middle of Tucson. Amazing location, 5 minutes walk to downtown restaurants and bars. Cannot praise it (or the owners) highly enough, if you're in Tucson and want to stay somewhere with character and the highest possible standards, book a room here! Love, Love, LOVE it!

Some of the dishes weren’t clean. There was a train at 4:30 am that woke us up and the faucet was dripping but the room was great

Unique property in a great location!
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple
    • One-Bedroom House
    • Stayed 1 night

The bathroom door had to be kept closed at night due to a slightly offensive odor (old drainage system?). The property was so filled with antiques that we really didn't feel fully comfortable anywhere except the bedroom. Even when sitting at the dining table, we felt that we shouldn't move the placemats, tablecloth, centerpiece, etc. Other than the slight discomfort, I would not stay at this property again because it is too "over the top."

Well, this was certainly a surprise stay! We stayed in a beautifully appointed 1-bedroom home dating from 1897, complete with period furniture and paintings. The property looks clean but "ordinary" from the outside, and then once we entered, my jaw dropped to the floor - I was expecting luxury, but not an entire home, with chandeliers, a lovely fireplace, a fully functional kitchen, and Victorian furnishings throughout. We had a wonderful stay and slept well in the queen-sized bed with antique headboard and footposts. Would recommend to anyone who wants a unique experience.

The only thing I didn't care for was the QR codes for everything. Learn how to use the TV - here's a QR code. Hook up to WIFI? - QR Code. A note would have been sufficient because I really hate QR codes. The overwhelming smell of Fabuloso - I'm overly sensitive to cleaners etc. though. I also was not entirely sure about what to do for check out.

The El Amador is a nice little hidden gem near downtown. Everything was very clean and the communication was great! The courtyard is nice and clean with spots to just hang out and relax. I would not hesitate to send friends or family here to stay. Everything looks like it was fairly recently built and appears pretty solid. The rooms have adequate space and there aren't a ton of knick-knacks taking up space to that was nice. The linens were all clean and tidy - The soap was free of perfumes and dyes so that was also very nice since I'm allergic to most things.

Relaxing self contained unts close to tram line
    • Business trip
    • Solo traveller
    • Queen Room with Balcony

Its not a hotel, so there's no place to leave your luggage before the afternoon checkin. There was no safe in the room. The operators offered to install one, however it never happened during my stay. There was no daily servicing. (or if you required it then there was an extra charge)

Location was very close to main tram line. Each room is a self contained unit opening up to the shared landscaped area.

There was no comfortable place to sit in the room, other than the bed. The bed was very tall and could have benefited from a stool on one side. It was challenging to get on and off the bed for someone short.

Love the historic charm and character of the inn; comfortable bed, roomy bathroom and wonderful outdoor spaces. It was convenient to downtown.
