Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ColombiaI prefer hard mattresses because of my back pains... So I was slightly soar but that's a personal preference (some ppl like soft mattresses)
Nicest ppl ever! Quiet location that feels like sleeping in the rain forest. The room is straight out of a western 70's movie. Breakfast is so big you will struggle to finish it. I arrived and left by bus no problem (bus stop is on Jade St). Volcano Park is about 2 miles away. Convenience store and food truck is about 1 mile away. Would be happy to return...

United StatesNot much to think about. There is no A/C in the room. We did not feel we needed it in October, however, during summer guests might need it
The place is quiet. The breakfast was delicious. Fresh fruits, tasty pancakes. This place is very close to the Volcano National Park. The small yard was really nice.

Czech Republicroom was a bit too small but sufficient we do not recommend the volcano house restaurant. it is not worth the money
it has this cozy family-like atmosphere, a bit outdated in the facilities and not spotless clean but functional and cute. right in the volcano village so just a short drive to the volcano park. not many places to eat out around..but we liked Kilauea lodge and Ohelo cafe. breakfast was freshly cooked by the owner who was so nice and helpful. she really made us the best waffles ever! also fresh fruit daily.it is very similar every day but delicous and perfect for our short stay. we also didn't manage to check-in in the preferred time so the owner left us keys and instructions for a later check-in and we are grateful! overall cute stay near volcano park

FinlandWe came without car (naive European tourists) and had to walk a lot to the volcano park. We managed, but it would have been easier with a car. We used Uber once to get to the national park, but were unable to catch it other days. This is though not at all a problem on the b&b’s behalf
The hostesses were charming, the breakfast was good and our room was very comfortable.

United StatesThere were only two downsides we found. The check in time of 3-5pm is limiting and inconvenient if you are out and about wanting to take advantage of every daylight hour. We arrived in the area too early to check in. We finished a long hike at 6:15 so I called to let Joan know we were on our way. She was gracious and accepted my apology. It rained almost the entire time we were there from 6:30 pm to 9:15 am the next day. We loved the rain, but we noticed a frequent clangy gurgly noise coming from the outside walls, presumably a part of the rain catchment system on the roof and downspouts. It wasn't really a problem, just mentioning it in case you are expecting peaceful silence the entire time. Earplugs kept the sound out.
Our private entrance room to the left of her front door was fabulous! We loved the wood paneling, the "fireplace" type heater, the lounge chairs with afghans to snuggle in (and I did!), the cedar closet, Joan was so sweet and made us feel welcome. We expected breakfast, but, wow, what a treat to find a beautifully decorated dining table complete with china and linens! We dined on fresh fruit ( a lot of it!), fresh coffee, hot waffles, and scrambled eggs. Everything was delicious and plentiful. We loved chatting with the other guests while enjoying Joan's "Red Rock Beatles" story! Thanks for sharing Joan!
