Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe mattress was way too soft. The room could have been a little bigger. I always like it when there is a bathtub.
We were allowed to check in a little early. The room was located where we were able to walk out the door and do many things. We rode your bikes every day we were there. The staff was very professional.

United StatesTraffic on main street Montecito can be really heavy at times.
Coast Village Inn is a very nice hotel with wonderful walking access to Montecito. The front office staff are very positive and helpful. Nice restaurants are in easy walking distance. The rooms are decent size, while the bathrooms are smaller. They have a nice swimming pool and there is a nice beach within 15 minutes walking distance. There is no breakfast but there are several nice breakfast spots within a few minutes walk. You can easily access all of Santa Barbara's wonderful sights via car with minutes.

United StatesThe rooms are a bit dated. There was no fan in the bathroom so the window was just perpetually open to air it out after showers. There also wasn’t a microwave, which is unfortunate because we would have loved to reheat leftovers during our stay. Also, it would have been nice to know what kind of shampoo and conditioner were in the dispensers. It was just a generic container but I’d love to know if it was sulfate free. I didn’t chance it and bought my own shampoo and conditioner. When we got into our room, it had a very strong chlorine smell. We assumed it was from being in close proximity to the pool. We didn’t mind it too much though, because we’ll take chlorine over other smells.
We stayed in room 19, directly across from the pool and a short distance from the main office. Our room had two beds and was very spacious in comparison to other double queen rooms we’ve stayed in. The hotel is right on Coast Village Rd. in Montecito so you can walk to different shops and restaurants in the area. Access to the freeway was easy and there was a Pavillions and CVS nearby to grab snacks and other necessities. The pool was clean with comfortable lounge chairs and couches. We hung out there most days with our friends while our children swam. Coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available in the office all day, which was so nice. The air conditioning was also top notch. We stayed very cool in our room!

United StatesTraffic on Coast Village Road was difficult at times. Food, drinks and shopping in Montecito are all very nice... and priced accordingly.
Staff was very positive and helpful. Rooms were nicely cleaned as often as you requested. Nice swimming pool. Free bike rental. Pool and beach towels are provided for your use. Great location to many walkable shops and restaurants in Coast Village Montecito. Butterfly beach is a 12-15 minute walk away and is beautiful (but no bathroom facilities.) Many other nice beaches (with facilities) are a 10 to 20 minute drive away.

United StatesUnfortunately there was road construction underway during the day that was somewhat annoying but not overbearing. The room was a bit dark and there was a hint of mold / mustiness when you walked in the room... perhaps an update : to rid the rooms of carpet and go with another type of flooring .
Location was exceptional and the stay was quiet and calm in a beautiful neighborhood. Easy access to quaint cafes and shops along Coast Village Rd. The beds were amazing and had a good nights rest. Staff was accommodating and helpful. Its a small and charming Inn located in a prime area , perfect for a few days of rest.
