Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesThe Marriott has really depreciated. I normally only book a Marriott no matter what state I’m in but this will be my last time booking with a Marriott.
Upon arrival my card was swiped twice. Even though I showed the manager the charge was pending he insisted he didn’t have a payment on his end. So I had to swipe my credit card twice. I was visiting Chicago from Virginia which could have been a disaster for my financial if I didn’t have more funds available. Thank goodness I did. The room refrigerator was dirty it had not been cleaned from the previous guest.

United StatesFriendlier staff at the hotel check in. I asked to speak to the Manager and was told the person I was speaking to was the manager. I tried to get help with my reservation by phone and was dealt with very rudely.
We were there to visit the Italian Consulate. The hotel was very close and made walking to our appointments possible.

United StatesResort fee of $25/day automatically charged to you meant you had to spend $25/day at the hotel or the fee was just theirs. WIFI was only free for their club members. True, it only took a minute to sign up, but I have never been to a hotel the didn't have free WIFI. On top of that, to access information about the hotel and room service menus, you needed to scan a QR code on a card in the room. How do you do that with no WIFI? Michigan Avenue entrance locked after 11 PM. Very inconvenient. Breakfast was way too expensive. We could not get our own luggage cart, we had to have one of the hotel bellmen get it, when we could do it ourselves, thereby costing us more money in tips. Self-parking was $51/day, and $71/day for valet parking!! Outrageous. In general, the people were ok, but the hotel rules were terrible.
The location was great! Room was large and clean. Car valet attendant, housekeeper Marival, and repairman Luis were excellent. Check -in people were ok. Elevators were quick no matter what time, there was always one available to go up or down, without waiting.

United StatesMost of the staff were unresponsive and kind of haughty. Maybe they were understaffed, but that’s no excuse. I spent thousands on two rooms three days. No housekeeping. Bartender pretty much ignored me and my daughter. Waited two + hours for my car, and the valet stand guy wasn’t mean, but he refused to talk to any of us about the situation. I’m surprised there wasn’t a riot. Thanks to Marriott, I got home and missed getting to see my grandson. I don’t know how to make up for that. Shame on you, Marriott!

Location, facilities, plentiful elevators (and fast!), we love that the hotel offers a credit to offset new city fees—that is a big plus! Rooms are spacious and well-maintained. Harvest breakfast was great, and that space is a very comfortable place to start the day. All staff members are welcoming and helpful.
