Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThere is limited shade at the pool. Perhaps the coast line setting limits the use of umbrellas, but a couple of shade structures might be appreciated. A previous guest had taken the bottle opener in our unit, but fortunately we brought our own. (Obviously this is a very minor point, so you can see we were generally very pleased to be at Halii Kai!).
Though not on a beach, the setting of the pool/restaurant is dreamy, beautifully sited on a lava coastline with extensive views of mountain and ocean, magical at sunset. The pool itself, while, not large, is nicely designed to feel like a series of small lagoons that give a true resort feeling. The salt water made the experience even more luxurious. The hot tub is especially nice, with a natural gravel floor. In short: the pool area really makes the place stand out, and the fact that there is a limited number of guests makes it feel almost private. We had dinners several nights, and the food was generally of a high quality-- I especially loved the fresh fish sandwich! The poolside setting was attractive, again -- magical at sunset. The staff -- both at the restaurant and check-in-- was extremely friendly and attentive. Overall, the property is nicely landscaped, well maintained and very comfortable. Our unit was tastefully designed and in good condition overall. Everyone in our family was happy we chose Halii Kai!

United States of AmericaWe had to go home. Truly disappointing. The community is about 22 miles away from normal city life expectations, full gas stations, convenience stores. I still loved it I just need to fill the box.lol
The grounds were impeccable and the vision of island paradise. The facilities including private restaurant and pool for the gated community also had a sunset view that was amazing with whale sighting just off the point. It was our first trip to the island so maybe we are easily impressed but I do not think so.

United States of AmericaWe had to move apartments in the middle of the stay because there was a leak from the upstairs bathroom to the kitchen. It was an inconvenience because we had to cut our activities for the day to move.
Great area. Rooms were really big and fit my family of 7 comfortably. The views were great as well. Pool club was a great place to relax and watch the ocean. The entertainment thy had was wonderful as well.

United States of AmericaI wished that we could bring in our own water bottles or thermoflasks to the pool as that would reduce the amount of cups and trash at the pool. Also it would taste better as the plastic from the cups got a little melty in the sun.
Loved the comfort of the entire unit as it was large enough for the 5 of us! The grounds were well kept and everything was so clean! Everyone was very friendly too! The pool was so relaxing and happy hour was fun too! I also thought the code entry was a plus since you didn't have to fumble around trying to locate the card or key for entry. It made it so much easier. I felt like anything we needed, just ask the desk or call them.

United States of AmericaI was surprised to be greeted with a housecleaning bill at check in. It should have been included in the total bill. All of the beds in the condo were loud and made a terrible creaking noise. If you are sharing beds and get up at night, you will likely wake someone up - it's that loud. Windows are adorned with vertical blinds and several of them keep falling. We've had to put them back up many times in the master bedroom, a guest room and the main living area. If you don't put them back up, bright light will shine through in the morning.
Beautiful condo/resort and near shops and restaurants. Loved going to Island Gourmet Market for our groceries, food, and other essentials for the condo. The restaurants nearby are expensive so Island Gourmet was a nice relief from the expense of the food places. There is a small farmer's market at King Shops and we ate food from the vendors. Really nice. The condo has plenty of room for a large family. Helen at the front office was helpful.

United States of AmericaI didn't like how far the pool/ocean club was from the front. If that is your priority, I would suggest requesting a Condo in building 12 or 13.
I liked the pool staff very much. The Tennis Court, Basketball Court, and Putting Green were an added bonus.

United States of AmericaThe unit we stayed in was very nice. The carpet could use an update and the beds were not very comfortable but not terrible either. There was limited cookwear (just enough to get by) but not enough if you did alot of ur own cooking. The 2 fry pans should go bc no matter how much oil/spray you use everything sticks.
First of all, the grounds are SO well maintained and absolutely beautiful!! We had quite a few extremely windy days and there was always a crew of grounds-people cleaning up after the winds. They really care about the landscape and flora here. I read several reviews about the Ocean Club rules...and this is true. They are very strict in there and poolside. But by no means a deal breaker. Just be resigned to eat/drink their items and/or fill up b4 you go in. :-) BTW...Kathy (server in Ocean Club) is THE BEST!!

United States of AmericaPrevious reviews spoke about the negativity at the ocean club pool, bar and restaurant and I would have to agree. Other than the 2 women who passed out towels and always had a pleasant greeting for us, the remainder of the bartenders, waitresses and servers made us feel like we were an inconvenience. No customer service. And once, with no other customers around, the bartender and waitress were chatting and made me wait about 5 minutes while they finished a social conversation. They knew I was standing there and didn't even acknowledge me.
This condo was more than described. In the description it stated there was a queen and 2 twin beds, when actually it was a king and 2 full size beds. This is a gated community that is beautifully maintained. Helen at the front desk was always helpful and greeted us with a smile.
