The lockers could have a shelf or something so that you can store clothes more easily. Two of the hairdryers weren't working. Signage outside could be clearer as it's easy to miss on the street! But these are only very small things!

The location was great for bars, restaurants and entertainment. Not super close to the metro but the neighbourhood is nice and feels safe. The dorms have a red light at night that is bright enough to see things but allows you to sleep. The beds are a little on the smaller side but are comfortable and private.

Although many things were free, if the price point were a tad lower, say even $5-7 lower, then it would be better for us budget backpackers. Unrelated to the hostel and more to the transport I took to and fro from it: If you are taking the bus, the dropoff point is nearly right in front of the hostel and I felt very safe during the day, however when late at night it's best to take a taxi instead as DC buses and the streets they go through made me feel unsafe at night, especially with disorderly people under the influence getting on the bus at some points.

The staff were very kind and helpful. I arrived very early in the morning and was able to leave my bag securely for free, and also use the bathroom, kitchen, living room downstairs to freshen up and charge my phone before going out for the day. I returned later for official check-in and it was smooth. I stayed in the 2-person female dorm room and it was perfect. Very clean sheets, pillow, big towel, locker in the room, curtain on the bed, multiple charging points and also bedlight. You will need a lock for the locker, but my suitcase had its own lock anyways, and the room is secured with a pin code. The bathroom was outside the room, the door next to the room. It was big-sized, the shower large, toilet large too, extremely clean!!! Lots of free amenities such as razor, shower gel, toothbrush, tampons/pads, etc. The fridge and kitchen were very clean, you must wash your dishes right after using to avoid a fee which means everyone is very responsible thankfully. There's free coffee and tea that is very good quality. The all-star point is that use of their laundry machine is FREE! Free detergent, washer, and dryer. Lots of people do want to do their laundry, but I did mine first thing in the morning and had no wait. Staff is in very early and stays late, and they were able to answer any questions I had. Cheap taxi ride using Uber to downtown, but also the bus pickup point was right across the street. I easily got 1 bus all the way from Union Station to the hostel, superb. Although at night outside the hostel there's bars/clubs, I didn't hear any of it in my room. For food, I'd stop at Trader Joe's on the bus route and pickup some pre-made salads and wraps for under $5 and keep in the fridge.

It's 20 minutes away from the nearest subway station and busses are literally always late so you can't really trust them. Also, I had a room in the back and it was perfect, but my friend that was staying at a room in the front said that it was very noisy at night, she and some other people in her room couldn't sleep.

the only thing that was not so good was that our room was very cold. the air conditioning was obviously not well installed or adjusted in this room.

It might be nice to add towel hooks to each bunk bed. Also I was sent an external link asking me to confirm credit card details ahead of my stay which felt a bit sketchy but worked out alright.

By far the most pleasant hostel experience I have ever had. Hostel appears brand new, super clean and has excellent facilities that were carefully thought out. Giant kitchen that is extremely well equipped, free laundry washing machine / dryer, and tons of additional bathrooms and shower rooms on each floor. Free bathroom supplies provided, including female hygiene products and earplugs / eye masks. Free filtered water and coffee / tea. Helpful staff members. It was a real pleasure to stay here.
