Despite the fresh modern design of the lobby the bedroom was painted a drab mushroom colour. Breakfast was inedible (perhaps 1* for the scrambled eggs) self-service with paper plates/bowls and plastic cutlery

The shower in our room was rather cramped. There was no shelf to place personal shampoo or soap supplies… but they did have complimentary shampoo and body wash dispensers attached to the stall. There was minimal counter space next to the sink.

Great location, just a short walk to Ocean Ave. and all the restaurants and shops… the gas fireplace is a nice touch. We enjoyed our return visit.

Everything was fabulous. Only comment was the breakfast was not very environmentally friendly- lots of throwaway single use plastic items- it would be great if there were more sustainable ways of offering food.

Fabulous location which meant shops, beach & eating places were all in walking distance. Rooms were great value given Carmel is generally an expensive place. Staff were exceptional- friendly, helpful & welcoming- nothing was too much trouble.

A very charming property with large, cozy rooms. Heated pool & included free breakfast (with a great spread) was a plus! Plenty of parking available. Grocery store next door was convenient. Location very close to the main street in downtown.

Situated inside the neighborhood with the most beautiful fairytale houses. Nice view from balcony, very well maintained hotel with pleasing interior/exterior. Breakfast included.

Parking was really tight on property but not so much of a problem since there was plenty of street parking. Breakfast was fine, not great.

The staff was kind enough to upgrade us due to roof work done during out stay. It was nice and spacious, and right next to the breakfast lounge. I liked how quiet it was, even though it was just two blocks away from center of Carmel by the Sea. It was great!

The room was quite old, and fairly spartan in facilities. The elevator is certainly old fashioned, small and almost clinical in appearance, and given it is the only thing that seems to connect floors 1 2 and 3 to floors 4 and 5 (we couldn't find stairs between 3 and 4), it was a bottleneck sometimes. I was also disappointed there was no fan or air conditioner as the room got quite hot during the day, so we ended up just leaving when it was hot out. If you really had to stay in during the day, I imagine that could be a bigger issue. During our stay, they also did some roof construction right outside our room that was very loud and a bit annoying. They warned us when we checked in, but at that point we couldn't really adjust or do anything about it.

The location was perfect, easy walking to shops and restaurants and ample parking with two lots for the two halves of the hotel. The place was clean, comfortable, and while we didn't use the pool it was the cleanest looking pool I've seen in a hotel. I also appreciated the fireplace and balcony in our room, which was perfect for eating breakfast and looking out at the ocean.

It was a bit hard to find the office when we checked in, since the facility has staircases that are non-contiguous and no signage. Fortunately, a maid got me going in the right direction.

Our room had a fireplace which came in handy during some cold late-March days. Parking was plentiful, and the breakfast was decent.
