Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

NorwayThe hotels “resort” charge is a joke and feels like a slick way to get more money from guests for things that should be included (internet, coffee/tea in room, water bottles).
Nice hotel especially lobby and bar area. Room was spacious but was dark and window faced a wall. Room had no fridge (though got one after asking for one). Great bathroom and shower.

BrazilOur room was directly in front of the elevator door, which made it a bit noisy. We could hear whenever someone arrived on our floor late at night. Also, the curtain didn't cover the window completely making the room a bit lighter than I'd like in the morning (but not too bad). Neither of them was a big deal.
The location is great: close to subway stations, a short walk from Central Park, and overall a very nice neighborhood. We got an upgrade upon arrival to a king bed, which was nice. They have a bar in the lobby that offers drinks and sometimes live music (low volume, ending early, and doesn't get in the way of your sleep). The bar becomes a mini coffee shop in the morning to sell bagels, croissants, and other pastries. There are plenty of other coffee shops around if you want diversity. They also offer a work room with computers available, wifi, and tables.

CanadaSome rooms are beautifully outfitted and renovated. Consistency in room quality would be a suggested goal as we have in the past experienced some less than ideal accommodations. This time we were relocated due to a broken window blind which covered the large front window with exposure to a busy street and many opposing windows. The staff and manager were very receptive and we were very happy with the room change.
we were relocated to a lovely room due to a problem with a blind in the first room. The beds are always extremely comfortable and the location is wonderful. Great seating outside and Patis has good coffee and light fare.

Bed was extremely comfortable, room was quiet. Big issues were we faced a brick wall and saw no sky, street or other building. Also, they took the price of the entire stay on my card the first day PLUS $500+ extra for “incidentals”.

United KingdomThe breakfast food/drinks offering is fine but a bit limited. The seating in the bar/cafe/reception can get somewhat tight since a lot of outside patrons seem to use it as a work area. Decor is looking a bit tired.
Has a nice buzz. It’s well located for anyone who wants access to the #1 subway line but not noisy. Very nice staff who were helpful/flexible on our check in and check out times and we were upgraded - admittedly it was our fourth visit over 25+ days. The door and porter team were also great. The guest helpline worked well and we got instant help.

Despite paying for the king room upfront on booking and only needing to pay the upgrade on arrival I was still charged for the entire booking. They tell me it will be refunded so will wait and see

We have balcony and the outside space was brilliant however the room needs a dressing table with plug and mirror accessible as these were in different areas. It also would benefit immensely from a fridge.
