Great location. Close to metro stop and two minute walk to lovely area of bars and food. Very helpful staff. I had a single room with shared shower and it was fine.

breakfast wasn't great, but it was OK. location was a bit off the city 'beaten path' but it was OK. Bunk bed bottom pad was worn down and space between bunks was not great for a person 5' 10".

The walls are not sound proof, so I could hear people talking in the neighbouring rooms. The shared bathroom was quite far from the room as well, so not very convenient.

I liked the location. In a rather quiet area, with lots of greenery around. Relatively close to the Subway, walking distance even with the luggage.

I wish,there were more variations in the breakfast. Additionally, when l arrived, l was placed in a 10bedroom dorm with just one man,and there was no one around, which made feel a bit uncomfortable to be honest.While l don’t mind mixed dorms with both men and women, being alone with just a stranger (just one man) was uncomfortable and l understand that this can happen in a mixed dorm.So,l requested to change my room, and they accomodated my request. Other than thaty stay was super comfortable.

I absolutely loved my stay at Chicago Gateway Hostel.The staff members were super nice,breakfast was good,the location was great, and the hostel was very homey and cozy. It was also very clean and totality worth the price.l highly recommend this place for solo travelers.

The beds were not super comfortable, and the airconditioning tends to be a bit loud. Though the latter can be turned off easily. The breakfast was okay, not bad, but I had to wait for cutlery to be cleaned.

The neighbourhood is really nice. Very clean and quiet, but there are also some cool bars just a few blocks down the road. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The breakfast could have included some kind of fruit, but then this is a hostel in a very expensive urban location, Chicago.

Hostel location was excellent with L station (metro) walking distance as well as beautiful Lincoln Park. The hostel building was the largest hostel I have ever stayed in. I stayed in a single deluxe room for one night and then a double with bunk bed for two nights with a friend. We both really enjoyed the experience. I also met so many people from various places; it was a truly international location for travelers willing to take some risks and meet others on their way. I will plan to return if I am needing a reasonable place to stay in Chicago, one of my favorite destinations!

Out of 5 breakfasts 2 breakfasts were without eggs which wasn't great.How difficult was it make sure that eggs were plentiful. The estimation of breakfast quantities need to be improved, because no guest should leave the breakfast equally and completely satisfied. Thanks Syed Anwar

The women's room on the second floor had a bad smell, smelled like eggs. I wouldnt have complained had I not used the first floor women's room which smelled clean. I would have assumed thats just how they smelled.

Nothing really besides the washcloths, the place was what I expected and more. I wished more people who stayed there were approachable, but I understand that. Overall, i would stay again. This place also only accepts out of state people, with out of state licenses/passports etc. Also book this location in advance, they run out of rooms quickly.

I booked the Chicago Getaway during memorial weekend (I did not realize it was memorial weekend when I booked) I arrived later than expected because of flight delays but when I arrived, I was greeted so well and welcomed. The check in person gave me my key and took my card for accidentals, understandable, and guided me to my room. I stayed on the third floor, i rented a private room with a half bath which I'm so thankful I did. It was super cozy, clean. None of the rooms have TVs so bring a laptop or something like that if that's what you want. The room came with towels but no washcloths, there was AC in the room and a ceiling fan. There is an elevator and stairs. They serve breakfast from 730-930am, just a regular breakfast like cereal, boiled eggs, toast, eggo waffles coffee, water. Nothing extravagant. If you are looking for luxury then do not stay here, it's great for solo, couples and groups. It is great if you need a place to rest your head for a day or however long. The staff was nice and helpful. The place was very clean and I loved the street it is located on, very beautiful and quiet area. Plenty of places to eat and activities near by.

On the top bed, there was black hair on the white linens. It was very noticeable and disgusting! It looked like they were only cleaning the bottom bed so people wouldn't notice anything. We lived in room 407 on the fourth floor. Upon returning to our room in the evening, we noticed ants crawling on the table and our belongings. It was terrible! Before we left, we reported it to the reception. There is a strange smell in the room because the window can not be opened because there is an air conditioner in the window. There are no shelves in the shower to put your things, for example, soap or shampoo. Everything has to be placed on the ground. It's very unpleasant! People are different, but basically everyone who comes to wash their face leaves the sinks in bad condition with hair, dirty and water everywhere. There is only one towel for each person in the room. I think this is very limited 😕 I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that each room only has a thin coverlet rather than a blanket for each person. It was quite chilly to sleep under such a thin cover even in May. If you are used to amenities, I do not recommend staying at this hostel. But if you are not picky, you can overlook the disadvantages, and you want to save money 😉 then this is place for you!

Very good location 👌 In this hostel, breakfast is served with limited food, but it is still very nice. Be careful not to sit at the large round table during breakfast, as it is unstable.

The bathrooms did have a bit of a smell. As well, the soap / shower gels are by the sink so it's a bit of a pain to grab and get back into your shower. It would be nice if they had a body wash dispenser by the shower stalls.

The bedrooms were surprisingly nice for a hotel. The linens / bed were very clean. The floors are also very clean. The hostel itself was very lively with travelers from all over.

It was just really far for The Loop and I spent alot of time travelling which is not ideal if you're only there for a short period of time! But other than that, great value for money.

The hostel staff were super friendly and the facilities were very clean! The location also felt really safe.
