Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsGreat place. Breakfast and lunch in little cafe downstairs is great. Really close to airport. Good restaurants around. Little record shop downstairs is a bonus. Spacious studio.

United StatesNot a huge fan of the loft layout. If I come back in the future (which I very well might), I'd instead probably go for a more traditional room where I don't need to climb a ladder to get to the bed. Glad I tried it at least once to see how it was.
Overall a solid option. Pretty convenient location with lots of options for food, shopping, and entertainment. Has most anything you'd need to stay for a couple days (sink, dishes, microwave, fridge, shower amenities). The AC/heater was nice, too.

United StatesFloor was concrete and I personally like to have my shoes off, so I had to create my own little trail of towels to step on because they didn't have slippers. Location was pretty sketchy, a lot of homeless around the area, and especially as a solo traveler, please be mindful of your surroundings. Wi-Fi was extremely slow, so I basically just used my data the whole time. Bathroom sink area was weird, you can only use the sink if you flush the toilet, so I just used the kitchen sink to wash my face. The blinds also let a lot of light in, so if you're someone who likes darkness, don't stay here.
Great staff! They let me check out later and since my flight didn't leave till the evening, they let me leave my bags in their little lobby. Room was spacious, equipped with cups, microwave. plates, water kettle, etc. They have a TV and rooms were decorated nicely. Great air conditioning. Amazing location, within walking distance to so many cafes and shops.

United StatesThere is practically no noise insulation. Our neighbors were incredibly loud and it was difficult to sleep.
Great hotel with a convenient location. Lots of windows and light inside, really liked the atmosphere. Very tasty restaurant right in the courtyard of the hotel.

AustraliaThe internet provided was nothing short of non-existent when accessing it from your room. We had to go downstairs to get a reasonable signal.
Location was very good. Direct bus service to downtown and the trolley to Tijuana. Excellent value restaurants nearby. The one opposite the front door very reasonable and good food.

United StatesThe eco-toilet is a nice concept but completely impractical. You can only wash your hands if your flush the toilet, so we ended up usually washing our hands at the kitchen sink. The location of the heating/cooling unit was awkward in that it made one end of the table really uncomfortable to sit at (limited room for legs).
Fantastic location. The size of the room and the furnishings/decorations were all great for two people. Television was small but had all the services we wanted. Kitchen was adequately stocked with dishes and tools.

United StatesWiFi barely worked the entire time. When it wasn't too slow to watch streaming services or browse the internet, it was down.
Check-in and check-out was easy. The location was great, with plenty of food options and close to public transportation. Parking was semi-private, but safe. Staff was friendly and reachable. The room was clean with decent amenities. The code-locked elevator was a nice security feature.

United StatesI would say the studio room that sleeps 4 people would be the challenge. The steps to get to the beds are creative but a little on the small size. I wanted to put my suitcase on the bed but wasn’t able to drag it up. But that’s the only thing! Everything else was AWESOME!
Very convenient location!! Everything we needed was right there within walking distance.

United KingdomThe check-in process could be better. The receptionist took my credit card, and I got a text with the room codes. That's about it. I would have appreciated more information on how to lock the door on your way out, a reminder of how to use the AC, etc. Also, the remote control has a weird design and finding the volume was challenging. For instance, these little bits of extra info in a Welcome letter in the room would be great. A more personalised check-in experience would have been appreciated. I still 100% recommend this place to any solo travellers or couples who want to be centrally located in Hillcrest.
The room was exactly what I needed. The location was PERFECT: super central in Hillcrest and close to coffee shops, restaurants, and bars within walking distance, which is what I wanted. The bed was super comfy, and I was lucky with my neighbours as I had a very quiet and peaceful stay.

United KingdomThe maintenance in the room was a bit poor: The tap fitting was loose. The A/C unit was under the table/bench, making the floor very cold (unpleasant), but not reaching the loft box rooms, meaning they were very warm (it was August).
Great location. Quirky room. Fun with teenagers. Good parking (undercover and spacious). Nice cafe/bakery incorporated (didn't take advantage of it, but nice to know it was there). Very easy location to travel to and from. Would stay again.

United StatesThe room was missing a ton of minor details, such as a mirror in the restroom (there were 2 girls trying to share a small mirror over the kitchen sink), trash cans in the kitchenette, a place to store your clothes. There was 3 hangers on a pole in the wall, but no dressers, night stands, or a closet in either of the rooms. If I was staying for longer, this would have been a huge inconvenience.
We booked a 2 bedroom/2 bath suite for the 4 of us. Having separate spaces for the guys and girls worked out perfect, plus we had a common living room. The building was safe and secure. We had access codes to get into the gates after hours, the elevator to get up to our floor and the enter our room.
