Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandThe location isn’t necessarily the best one as it’s not by the beach. And actually the Kiwengwa beach wasn’t even that nice beach out of the ones that I visited during my trip. However, you can take a taxi or boda boda to other places and explore the island from here. And it was always nice to come back to this little hidden garden after the adventures around the island.
The staff in this place is amazing! Especially Mohammed made me feel like home with his friendliness. Also Remo did a lot for me during my stay. Shoutout also to the cleaning ladies who even did my laundry and always greeted with a big smile! The hotel it self is charming, clean and equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay.

United KingdomThe bush babies at night!
The staff are all amazing. The chef smashes out the best pancakes ever! Also being vegetarian, made us a different 3 course meal each night. Betram couldn't do enough for you and serves the best ginger tea. Raymond, thanks also for looking after us with trips and kindly took us to our next hotel. A great place to stay, just a 5 minute walk to the beach, there is a great pool to use if you aren't a beach person. Thanks again all

Frank, the night watchman, was also always very obliging and he also has a small shop selling bracelets and necklaces! The room was great and the complex itself was always very clean and inviting. Beautiful little paradise in Kiwenga. Our room was spacious with nice patio outside. It has a pool (small but OK) with sunbeds. Breakfast was incuded and very nice, so it was the other food. All the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We‘ve had a great stay The Kiwenga beach is nice (and quiet) with a few restaurants to eat or simply just have a drink.

I like the calmness, the silence and the bungalow with the flying bed on the first floor. Remo and Christina, thanks for making me feel welcome and your extraordinary hospitality! The time at the beach was 10 minutes by walk which was great!

ItalyThat I had to leave...
The best choice I could have made... Clean and spacious rooms with a stunning seaview from the big terrace (I had de Deluxe room), surrounded by plenty of plants and trees. The beds are very comfy and the curtains refrain the sun from waking you up in the early morning, what is not really common in Zanzibar. The staff is simply awesome and caring for all your needs, so that you can just relax and enjoy your stay. I liked it so much that I will come back in a few days, so I don't need to say that I highly recommend this beautiful place... A special thanks to Daniele, the hotel manager, and Mohamed, the restaurant manager who cooked for my special needs and always had a few kind words to share with me... See you soon 😊

NetherlandsNot fun to write, but maybe some good feedback; We felt the lady at the reception was not very helpful. She just did the bare minimum and when we asked things we just got a big sigh about it. Too bad because all the other staff was so helpful! A little proactivity in telling us about everything they offer or trips we could make would have been welcome. We arranged most of the things ourselves outside the hotel because of this. Also, we felt that just 2 small bottles of water at arrival was a bit less. You can buy a big bottle of water at the restaurant for 2 USD, while a six pack of water in the shop is not even 2 USD. It would be helpful to arrange a small bottle of water every day at least as drinking water from the tap is not safe. Probably because of water quality, but our shower(heads) looked quite nasty even though everything was always spotlessly clean. Another opportunity for the hotel; I've tried booking directly with the hotel, but the price was much higher and communication didn't flow. Therefor we chose to book with booking.com which costs the hotel commission. Definitely no feedback not to stay at this hotel, because overall we had a great experience!
First of all, the price/quality of this hotel is great! We really enjoyed our stay here! The guys working here are amazing. We had so much fun at the restaurant in the evening with the guy working there and had the best talks about the island and the difference in our lives, big shout out to him! The exact reason why we stayed in every night (not always for dinner, but definitely for drinks) and chill in the restaurant or around the pool and watch the crazy big bats and sometimes even the bush baby! Also Remo was really helpful in bringing us to the sister hotel for lovely relaxing days and great food! The hotel is just a walk away to the beach and beach restaurants, plenty of choice. (lots of sellers here though, find your way around them). A bit dark at night to walk back but we always felt very safe just walking with our phone lights. We went to this hotel to explorer the island from there, and it was so nice and chill to come back in the tranquil serenity after a day of exploring and relax in the pool or at our balcony. We had some powercuts, but the staff was really working above and beyond to fix it quickly every time. Breakfast was good,. Even though they had a menu to choose from, for an 8 night stay it was a lot of the same. But quality was great, also for snacks and dinner.
