We informed the property we will arrive between 2-3pm. We arrived at 3pm and our rooms were still not ready. We did not have to wait too long but after all day of traveling last thing you want to do is wait for your room. The facilities are not as new as they seem in the pictures. We had 1 rooms and 1 did not even have a proper bathroom door that would close. The cleanliness was also a bit questionable. Also the room was facing the garden so it was a bit loud when someone was passing by and talking. No mosquito nets which I understand is maybe not that necessary in this time of the year but makes you just feel safer. The lounge was a bit of a disaster to be honest for the prices they charge there - 30$ for a whatever wine is too much even for Europe. No cold wine; dirty glasses; they always had only 1 cold drink - 1 cold coke; 1 cold Fanta; 1 cold sparkling water.

The staff was very nice. The breakfast was delicious.

Good size pool interesting breakfast with wonderful customer service. Nice little touches such as usb points in room and good sized bottles of water. Great location. Near heaps of restaurants and an atmosphere close by. Highly recommend the massage place across from the hotel

Would be nice to have a slightly earlier start for the breakfast. The internet connection is not great.

Fabulous continental breakfast. Plenty of options for everyone. Also set up in a nice restaurant with a lovely view to the swimming pool. Wonderful staff. Nice comfy rooms and bed. Good options of restaurants and coffee places nearby. The Tai massage place in front is worth a visit! Loved the bunnies in the garden! :-)

Walkways to breakfast room can be slippery

Hotel Tortara, very clean and spacious hotel room. Variety of breakfast options. Popcorn available 24/7. Large pool and garden. Playful rabbits around the hotel gardens. Nicely lit up. Very peaceful location. Cosy beds. Large fountain at main entrance with koi fish. Pond in the middle of the garden had koi fish as well. Tree house for relaxing.

What is there not to like?

The location was a perfect, quiet and decent area yet not far from the city centre. The staff were friendly and went an extra mile to make the stay comfortable. Breakfast was superb. The environment water feature and fish added to the magic of the place

The breakfast was a blend of continental and Tanzania locally sourced foods which was rich with both hot and cold options. Lots of proteins from meats, eggs, (need to request Spanish omelette), plenty of fruits and vegetable based foods - great ground coffee. Of course the bog standard toast and other pastry choices.

Great location. Great price. Fantastic continental breakfast. Lovely sitting area with a beautiful garden and a swimming pool with bunnies and fish to enjoy. Rooms are large enough and come with a fridge and a kettle. Staff super friendly and accommodating. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there are plenty of good options nearby, including a Thai massage center in front which I tried and would definitely recommend. Will definitely come back!

The starting time for serving breakfast. I feel the hotel can start serving breakfast a bit earlier to accommodate those starting days activities earlier as well. 7;30am was somewhat late. I would propose 7:00 am or earlier.

The dinner in the restaurant could be prepared a bit better. Octopus was prepared dry like a kebab and without any additional vegetables. Probably photos to the menu could help the customers.

Decent breakfast including fruits, Cornflex with milk, as well as changing day-by-day dishes (pancakes etc). Well renovated rooms, fish in aquarium and rabbits with the garden and the pool add the value to your stay. European pictures in the hotel make you feel like at home :)

Guests are allowed to relax/consume food and drinks around the pool area till very late in the evening, which can cause some noise pollution in the surrounding rooms (it happened twice during my stay, so doesn’t happen very often but still). Maybe keep an eye on that and request them to relax at the bar area after a certain time?

It is a really nice hotel, I loved to stay here. This was my second stay, because the first time was so amazing I had to come back. The breakfast is delicious and various, the staf is very welcoming and helpful. They really look after you and are so friendly. The pool is a wonderful place to relax, is clean and peaceful. Very convenient that there is a washing machine for clothes (the hotel provides this service including soap for free!).

Breakfast hour could be earlier to accommodate guests who need to travel or work earlier than 7:30am.

The location of Hotel Totera is within walking distance of shops, restaurants, pharmacies, and the beach. The staff is very accommodating and very friendly and they make our stay enjoyable. The rooms are very comfortable and very clean which is what we look for in places that we stay. The breakfast buffet has a wide variety of choices for anyone.
