Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe staff were indifferent, and not as friendly or helpful as previous reviews suggested. Quoting too high prices for food and laundry. I told the owner who was unaware and he kindly mentioned he will sort it. You don't come to a hostel for high prices! We were the only guests so not social. We didn't mind but some solo travellers can be aware.
Clean, comfortable, full mosquito nets, good WiFi. Peter is a great owner. I can recommend this place.

AustraliaIt’s not a social hostel at all but I think just because it’s new. We were the only people here for basically the whole time a part from a few people here and there for a night or 2. It was perfect for us as we came with friends but if you are solo and wanting to meet people it would be difficult!
Osotwa is a clean, nice & chill hostel. We stayed here for a month and it was perfect for me and my 2 friends to stay at as it was affordable & close to our volunteer placements and town! The staff are lovely and I would definitely stay here again.

BrazilThe location is not very central, but the qualities outweigh the small details that could improve: - the shower is a little difficult to regulate the temperature - the curtain could cover the sun a little better - the yard is so big and beautiful, it could be used more
- Judy and the team were wonderful. always smiling and helpful, helping us with restaurant recommendations, information, preparing a good breakfast - breakfast was delicious and simple - the bed was good, big and with good bedding - has a nice balcony

United KingdomThe shower is a wet shower and when you use it all the bathroom gets wet. It is also a little bit difficult to regulate the temperature you want.
They were very friendly and adaptative to our needs. The first night we asked if they could prepare dinner for us and Judi cooked us a delicious meal. Also Malaika walked us to an ATM where we could withdraw money. We were going to do the Kilimanjaro so we asked them if they could keep our luggage until we came back. So in general were really helpful and gave us all we needed.

United KingdomOne bed did not have a mosquito net.
We were a group of 4 students traveling through Arusha before starting safari. This was a beautiful clean property. We were welcomed by the lovely hosts. The beds were very comfortable and 3 out of the 4 bunks had mosquito nets. The bathrooms were lovely - clean with great water pressure and warm water! Breakfast was served at the time of our choosing and was very tasty! The hosts were very kind and helpful throughout our stay.

NetherlandsJudith, Angel and Peter were the best, they made me feel at home and helped me with everything! I could even join dinner with the staff, which was really nice as a female solo traveler after a very long traveling day there. In the morning Peter was so kind to drive me to my public transportation, and wait together with me and arrange the tickets for it! The whole place isn’t too big, but feels spacious, and cozy at the same time. I had a private room with a soft bed provided with a mosquito net and some big closets. Both the dinner and breakfast were amazing and more than enough for me! I would recommend it too anyone, especially people traveling solo, even though when I was there I was the only guest there because of low season :)

GermanyIt would have been easier to find if there was a sign. We couldn’t find it first but we got help from the receptionist of the neighboring hotel.
The staff was really friendly, they let us in although it was already late and we booked it very spontaneously. The welcome was warm and nice and we had a lot of space for ourselves. The included breakfast was delicious and the wifi worked well.

Italythe position may not be the most central, but this is easily solved with a bodaboda (moto-taxi).
the beds are heavenly comfortable, the whole hostel feels very homey and welcoming and is very clean. The staff is the absolute best: they invited me to go have dinner with them (which was perfect as I travelled alone) and helped me out a lot with some issues I had with my transfer to nairobi.

Brand new very clean and comfy home away from home. Spacious, well equipped with great rooms, a nice living room to hang out and a big kitchen with everything you need to prepare your meals if you like to. Delicious breakfast. Good internet and warm showers (if there is no power cut) Save, secure and quiet. Supermarket, bar and restaurants just around the corner. Host Peter is always there to help with anything and is taking very good care of his guests. Used this stay as a home base during my safaris and hiking tours.

everything perfect, very clean, great facilities, Peter the owner is very helpful and friendly , the kitchen was very good, good value for money , delicious breakfast , quiet and peaceful , hot shower and good wifi if there is electricity (load shedding is at the moment happening all over Tanzania and not just in this place).
