Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelEverything was great!
When we arrived the team greet us nicely and we immediately felt like home. The place is full of green plantes with a natural big graden and a feeling of being in the forest. This place was very special. I'm a botanist and I was charmed. Food was great with nice breakfast and fish dish for dinner. The place also offers a massage which was the cherry on top of our staying.

GermanyThe accommodation has little water pressure and the surrounding village is not too attractive to spend many days there. Unfortunately the bikes didn‘t work.
The Mawingu Lodge is a place of peace, consciousness and warmth. We felt invited to just be, relax in one of the various seating areas and practicing yoga. There the simple life is celebrated. We could rent a SUP and enjoyed breakfast (fruit, omlette, chapati, delicious tea and coffee) as well as the dinner (fresh grilled fish, vegetable sauce and rice) a lot. We can highly recommend to eat there for dinner.

United KingdomThe room didn't have a ceiling fan. It had been removed and a floor fan in its place so be the room was a little hot. We also suffered a lot in the night with mosquitoes as gaps under door. It's basic and fairly cheap and near to beach. We went on a boat trip and ate at nearby cafe and resort.
Location and they have a lovely friendly dog that's just had puppies and a friendly cat. Staff friendly too.

SpainRoom next to the street is nosy, many motorbikes. There is a bar very close to Mawingu so you hear the music in the night. Better to use earplugs. No wifi, or bad signal, or disconnected, you have to ask the owner and she can say that "the credit is finished".
The room and the garden are really beautiful, very close to the beach. Big, clean, very comfortable for being with a group of friends, nice decoration... Masais working very friendly and helpful.

HungaryThe bathroom was a bit smelly, probably because of the humidity.
We spent there only one night, but we wish for a couple more. Calm, peaceful place, with beautiful garden. Breakfast was big portion in the middle of the garden. We loved the animals there, they were adorable:) The owner is a really lovely lady, she recommended us several things.

United StatesBring bugstray! Mosquitos can be bad in this wonderful jungle area. Be cautious with last-minute bookings as they might not see it, so call to make sure they acknowledge your reservation. I felt safe with the big dog on site. No restaurant on site. Beautiful yoga space.

SwedenEverything. It was disaster. No maintaining of the facility. Everything was broken curtain hangers, windows, fan... there were no curtains on the window where the bed is. NO PRIVACY. I had to put a towel but that was not easy because the window was broken. Nets on the windows has holes. Cockroachs in the bathroom. And mushrooms were growing on the wall where the shower head leaks. I couldnt take a shower. And it was not even on budget. Not worth even 1 dollar. It says on the page, free bikes but tires were erupt. The place is a scam. I booked only for 3 days and felt like 3 months. Also, very noisy. It is on the road. People, cars are so loud even in the middle of the night.

South AfricaThe owner is rude, unwelcoming and unfriendly. She can’t speak English so she couldn’t help us with anything. She refused to pump up the bikes that are flat and old but offered for free online and turned off the wifi and didn’t allow us to use it. Someone like this should not be a host, she ruined the experience for us. Room is noisy right on the road and you can hear everything from other guests in next door rooms. Restaurant too expensive. We left early and lost our money but I wouldn’t stay another second here.
Nice rooms and good location. The dog is friendly.

United KingdomWe had a lot of issues with a very basic stay. - Owner trying to make us pay twice after supposedly not understand booking.com’s payment system. Threatened not to let us leave despite showing evidence we had paid in advance. - We were also asked for payment after they supposedly started cooking us dinner (which we had decided against) after simply seeing the menu. We had not ordered, and I don’t see how any confusion could have been caused when there were two options on the menu that we would have had to have made a choice from. - The area around the bar we were told we couldn’t sit in - this appeared to be for staff and residents - and moved to sit alone in isolated areas. - During the first night there was a lot of commotion. Shouting matches with locals and the resident dogs barking loudly outside the rooms. Benefit of the doubt: despite the requests for more money (finally resolved via booking.com) I believe the owner and the people working here don’t mean any bother, but this was not hospitality as I would expect it. We did not feel welcome as guests looking for a quiet break by the beach.
The staff at the property were friendly on arrival, the room was big for the price.

I enjoyed the massage I received as a gift. And of course I did it again... the beach is very close and at night we sat watching shooting stars with Maasai stories... the meals are perfect and varied... we could order food that suits us.
