Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomI’d say the food could be slightly more generous but it was still lovely
Amazing serene location, shade from the jungle, pool / bar / dining location all in close proximity for our family

United States of AmericaWATER. Fumba is a bit stingy with it. Housekeeping can leave only one bottle per day, and if you are paying for meals, that means paying for water. If convenient, I’d suggest bringing your own. MOSQUITO SPRAY. Two lovely women arrived each each evening to ask if we wanted our room fumigated. No thanks. Who knows what chemicals that concoction contains? Our final night, we were not in the room. As was obvious from the smell, they had nonetheless entered and sprayed away. You might want to inform reception when you arrive if you don’t want this. REEF SNORKELLING. Some aspects were great, especially the very professional crew from the diving center. We enjoyed the overall trip, great barbecue, and returning by lateen sail to see how the boat is rigged and managed. The blue lagoon site was beautiful, and a good opportunity to view fish (though not so many) up close. But the reef, center exhibit, is decimated, dead, and thoroughly depressing, especially if you have ever seen a vibrant reef. (Chumbe Island is the best option in this area of the Indian Ocean.) I’d cut this part out completely. Fumba should not pretend that they have anything to offer here. FINAL SMALL GRIPE. In an effort to look upscale, hibiscus flowers are left on pillows and even toilet paper. I’d rather see them living in the gardens.
As is often the case in Tanzania, all staff were very professional and friendly. The design of the site is spectacular, especially for the incorporation of natural features such as a magnificent baobab tree. The pool and surrounding area is beautiful. Zanzibari decorative elements are very creative. A small but appreciated detail, the space between the bed an mosquito netting. (You don’t wake up with your face against the net.) The forested area is small, but very worth a walk. We appreciate that this space was left as it is.

United KingdomMy husband wished for larger portion sizes at dinner. They were fine for me but I am a light eater. The bathrooms could do with a little updating.
-The 800 year old Baobab tree( at least 4 m wide) is the show piece. Has built in lookout with view of sea -The lush and shady gardens full of trees. -The spaciousness between bungalows, . No bungalow is in front of another, so even Villas in the second line have sea view through trees. -The monkeys who make the surrounding forest their home. Quite delightful if not a little mischievous when they come through the resort. -The staff are all lovely from reception to security. Asant sana to all. Thanks to Jeanette for her morning Jambo greetings and for providing extra shower gel before we even knew we needed it. -The manager who check ups on every guest at dinner time with a quick chat. -The absolutely stunning dressing gowns, in different African designs, available for sale. -The many lounging spots dotted around the resort.

BelgiumI didn't mind and found it quite nice that the place has regular visits from monkeys, but in case this is a problem for you, be warned that it can happen. They are not aggressive but you might want to keep the door closed when they are around (it took one monkey 10 seconds to steal sugar in my room).
Fumba Beach Lodge is the closest place to paradise that I have ever experienced. For all those who cherish nature, calm and serenity, this is the place to go. Party people, stay away. By keeping wi-fi areas to a minimum, it really helps being in the moment and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The 4 course menu proposed in the evening is also very good. If possible, try to have a room in the first line in front of the sea, it is really worth it.

FinlandWifi would be nice in rooms. Monkeys were a bit scary when I saw one day.
Place beside the see is just great. Bungalows are elegant african style decorated. And food is delicious.

United KingdomBeds rather on the hard side and lighting in the room fairly poor. The swimming pool was a bit "murky" but they were doing some repairs to the pool surround whilst we were there, so that may have caused the issue.
Great location. Much quieter than some other areas of Zanzibar. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast included. Lovely outdoor bar area, perfect for sun set drinks.

United KingdomThe only downside was that it was a little isolated so limited alternative options for eating.
Beautiful accommodation particularly the gardens. Clean, comfortable, professional and friendly staff. Breakfast was great. Good selection for lunch. Dinner was also good quality but limited choice (set menu) and quite expensive. Lots of options for tours and activities, the team were super helpful in arranging bespoke options for me too. The snorkeling was great. The spa was heavenly. I will definitely be back.

United States of AmericaWiFi could use improvement (I HAD to do some work), but then again most people get away to get away from it all... and probably newer safes in the room that are easier to open / close. That is all I have that needs improvement
Beautiful & quiet setting 30 minutes South of Stone town. Easy to reach yet away from all the other tourist, hustle and hustlers. The rooms were spacious and clean, the food was excellent, the service was super friendly, the setting spectacular.
