Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaTo be very honest... there wasn't anything.
The view is Paradise indeed, even better than the pictures!! It's breathtaking! Apon arrival a glamours beach hut awaiting me, with outside shower with beautiful tropical coral stone wall, and plants. The white look is simple and refreshing while having all that is needed. Then the staff go out of their way to see to your every need. DID I MENTION THE FOOD, OH MY SOUL. Please try the seafood coconut curry, and exotic twist to oats, with a dash of spice & tropical fruit. The infinity pool look, overlooking the turquoise waters, is a dream come true. The pool lounge chairs around in various areas, large hammocks, and fire pit lit in the evening, creating the wonderful beach vibe you are looking for. I truly enjoyed relaxing in the day s sun, while we like-minded travelers chatting to one another. There is also a gym and yoga area to get in that workout. A nice lady offered massages, so it ticks all the boxes for me. Take it easy ...Pole Pole... Born in Botswana 🇧🇼.

The breakfasts were delicious as well as other meals in the ocean view restaurant. The hotel boasts a large, green space, which added to the relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were recently refreshed and provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend.

Beautiful sanctuary in a remote location, far off from mass tourism. The setup, the garden, the pool and beach is amazing, the views breathtaking, the food very delicious, the staff is friendly and the facilities were great. We felt very comfortable throughout our stay. During low season there are not many people around and you almost have the whole beach to yourself

United KingdomThe staff are well meaning, although in need of some more training in certain areas, and generally slightly lackluster by western standards. The tours are expensive for what you get, and you are herded through a pre-set programme with dozens of others. The boat tour (dolphins and island full day) we went on was frankly a bit of a tourist trap; probably to be avoided.
On the way back from our boat tour we sailed down the coast while our guide pointed out all the hotels. I can honestly say that, from the boat vantage point, there wasn't another one that I'd prefer to be at. Several were far more swanky, but Aya Beach Resort has a good combination of low-key accommodation, and a nice location overlooking a wonderful beach, which also acts as the hub of the local community. The hotel is quite ragged around the edges, which wouldn't suit everyone. The accommodation is fairly rudimentary, but the bed is comfy, there's a sitting area, a patio and AC (essential here). The shower-room is basic but adequate. The restaurant serves excellent food, but a limited menu, so after six days it's hard to avoid repeats. The atmosphere is relaxed. Around the hotel there is very little to do, which is great for a few days, but beyond six I think I'd want something more. The hotel purports to be 4-star, but this wouldn't bear comparison if we were in Europe. However, despite some expected developing world shortcomings, overall we feel incredibly fortunate to have stumbled on this little gem. Not perfect, but jolly nice.

IrelandWe had a lovely relaxing stay at Aya Beach Resort. The location close to the village enabled you to experience village life in a fishing community, yet with the privacy of the resort. The high tide was perfect for a swim. The room and facilities were as advertised, but best of all were the staff who were top class and couldn't do enough for us. Asante sane

United KingdomBrilliant location, the beach is beautiful, when the tide is out you can find sea life left in the pools, like sea urchin, octopus starfish and when the tide is in the sea is so clear, calm and warm. You can go on trips to see dolphins, whales and snorkeling. These trips can be done with the locals on the beach who are very friendly.there are also local restaurants on the beach where you can get seafood BBQ, pizza etc all at good prices. The hotels do good food as well but getting out of the hotel you can see the real Zanzibar. The sellers on the beach are fine and don't bother you too much ☺️

SloveniaVery hospitable, helpful and friendly staff, tasty and plentiful breakfasts and a diverse range of food for lunches and dinners with a local touch, which is very welcome for getting to know the characteristics of the island. A good location next to a white sandy beach and a fishing village a few 100 meters away, which gives this resort a very special meaning. I was enchanted by the tastefully maintained tropical garden that connects the bungalows to each other, especially the original positioned and equipped bathrooms. Excellent, I recommend it for families, travelers or couples.

Wonderful location on this side of the island, with a sandy swimming beach right in front of it. Great food! Several guests from neighbouring resorts regularly chose to eat at Aya instead - the food was delicious and well-priced compared to other resorts. The location has THE BEST sunsets!

This was our last resort after 12 days on Zanzibar . It was a great end of our vacation. Superb location , staff and food. Its directly located on the beachshore where many locals fish , play or try to sell something to tourists. Its off the track of Paje or Nunghwi so you are more chill and intimate with the people and peer guests . New Years eve was very well prepared with local music and good ambiance. Will be back
