Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing really, we were pleased with the stay
We had a very nice welcome and introductory chat with tips on exploring Istanbul which was helpful. The room was very clean & comfortable and it was as described. We had a very small balcony, our view was mediocre, but we knew this when we booked this particular room. We like the location, for example walking to the Egyptian Spice Market is about 20 minutes. We could walk to the public transport to access all other parts of the city. There are restaurants and bars nearby, but it's also not far to walk to other areas (north or south) for more variation.

FinlandIstanbul is quite noisy. That has nothing to do with the hotel though... Area is for tourists, so a bit hard to find anything real local. After some research and walking there is plenty of nice options around. Just don't wait anything super real around Galata Tower.
Location is great if first time in Istanbul. Galata area is quite touristic but nice location. Easy to get almost anywhere.

AustraliaOnly two small bottles of water supplied each day, the rest you have to pay for - the mini bar is quite pricey. Recommend buying a large bottle of water from a store nearby. Basic facilities - no gym or breakfast included, so really just a place to stay, but was all we needed!
Beautiful spacious room, comfortable king size bed. Loved the balcony, good central location, walking distance to a lot of key areas and to the metro station, lot's of places to eat and drink nearby, great view of Galata tower and Istanbul, staff were very helpful with recommendations and felt very welcome. Chocolates and Turkish delight on arrival, complimentary wine included on first night was nice!

CanadaEverything was great with our apartment, but a few things if improved would make a difference. The terrace was an great feature for us, but the flowers and plants on the terrace were either dead or dying. Not a great look. The Appartement management knew this and had planned to address it. Although the hand held shower head in the shower was working and was just sufficient, the rain shower head was not. Not a big deal, but it seemed a plug had been removed on the main diverter which prevented water from being diverted to the rain shower head. They will fix this. And one of the chairs in front of the smaller than useful TV almost collapsed when my wife sat on it. She's 5' 1" and 115 lbs...so not a risk to furniture :-) They will fix this. And the one thing I didn't forgot to mention to management was the safe. It's on the floor of the amoire and not fastened in place. I'm less concerned about fastened in place, but I hate safes so low down. You have to get on your knees to properly put things in and take things out. Whether your 5' 1" like my wife or me at 6' 3"...it's a real pain! Plus it could be a little wider. And remember...Istanbul and in particulat the Galata/Beyoglu area has very hilly terrain...so if you have any mobility issues, it will be a real challenge for you. Regardless, we will stay at the Louis Appartements again!
The location was great. We stayed 4 nights here in Galata and the 4 nights in Sirkeci, Fatih. Most of Fatih is far more touristy than Galata. I will only stay in Galata in the future. Although somewhat touristy also, Galata has a much more local neighbourhood feel with better restaurants nearby and far less aggressive vendors. Plus you are close to the Pera neighbourhood and all it offers and other Beyoglu neighbourhoods, and you're centrally located to easily access areas north to Taksim Square, the Bosphorus to the east, south across the Galata bridge to Fatih, and all ferries whether on the Beyoglu or Fatih side to the Asian/Anatolian side and up the Golden Horn. And the Louis apartments are perfectly located in Galata right down the street from the Galata tower. And the terrace and view looking directly at the Galata Tower are an added bonus! And on a finally on the positives...the King size bed in the Tower Suite was a really nice bonus and everyone on the Louis Appartements management team and staff were absolutely fabulous!

United StatesAlthough the location is excellent (close to Istiklal and the Galata tower) its location near the top of a VERY STEEP hill does have drawbacks. Waking back to the apartment after a long day of tourist activities can be a challenge for some, however we enjoyed it. The building is also situated immediately next to a large parking garage, we did hear some noise throughout the day and night from that garage, so that may be something to consider if you are a very light sleeper. The air conditioning unit in our apartment although it worked great, it would intermittently squeak loudly - waking us up from sleep.
The hosts at the Louis Apartments Galata are the most wonderful and friendly people. They were very welcoming and helpful with tips and lots of travel advice to support our sightseeing in Istanbul. Every time we met with them they would offer us tea, coffee and sweets. The location was excellent (really close to the Galata tower) and allowed us to walk to Istiklal Caddesi every night for dinner, fun, and people-watching. The apartment was large, clean, had all the modern conveniences that we needed, and was serviced by the cleaning staff every 2 days. The bathroom was clean, well-lit, and had a very nice shower with good water pressure. The kitchen in our apartment was small but had everything we needed to make quick coffees and small breakfasts/snacks. The couch was decent and provided a nice place to sit and relax after long days out. The TV seemingly received about 1000 channels, yet we did not watch it much.

South AfricaThe area where the apartment is located is VERY hilly so be prepared to walk up and down many very steep hills to get anywhere (including to public transport). If you have mobility issues, this location is not for you.
The apartments are beautiful, the roof terrace apartment is wonderful with a beautiful balcony and magnificent views. The staff are lovely and helpful. It has a lift so getting luggage to top floors is no problem. It is very close to the Galata tower as well as the metro, ferries, tram and funicular.

United KingdomIn terms of what didn’t quite work for us was the superior suite we were put in, we would have preferred the superior suite with the window above the sofa which seems brighter than our suite was, our living space was quite dark. The bed was quite hard and the bed cover wasn’t big enough for the size of the bed and the bedding and towels had a bit of a stale odour despite looking clean. We didn’t have anything from the minibar as it was too expensive, and it would have been a better experience if there wasn’t a 2 euros charge to have coffee in the suite, which meant most mornings I had to go down in the lift to reception area to have a complimentary coffee to take up to our suite. We have never had to pay for room tea and coffee every where else we have stayed. They should also stay up to date with the prices to attractions and airport taxi transfers as we were expecting to pay what they advised but this is not the Louis apartments fault but beware of sites like Hagia Sofia where you can expect to pay 25 euros just to enter the mosque and another 25 euros for the museum! We have never paid this much to enter sites and museums anywhere else in the world! They are taking advantage of tourists with these shocking prices, and there’s no price on display at the kiosk at Hagia Sofia. Again not the fault of the apartments but it could be quite noisy at around midnight when it sounded like the refuse collections were going on. We couldn’t sit on the balcony because the table was dirty with bird droppings and it overlooked a multi storey car park and situated near the fire escape.
Our communication with the hotel before we arrived was good, they were helpful with any questions we had. The apartment was clean and comfortable, good sized suite. We had a complimentary bottle of water and white wine in the minibar which was nice. We were also gifted a bottle of wine which we appreciated. Whenever we needed the iron and board they brought it up for us. The shower ran well with hot water, decent size bathroom. The staff were friendly, polite and very helpful in terms of places of interest worth a visit and how to get there. The apartments are in a good location close to the Galata Tower with lots of places to eat and drink nearby. About a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest tram to get to the old town across the water. Minor issues with toilet not flushing and safe not working were fixed very quickly.
