Beach club: bean bags very expensive should be free for guests staying at the Varana Hotel. Drinks and food are very expensive also, and there is not too much choice of food.

My one small niggle is that there is very minimal space for clothes and nowhere to tuck away your case in the room. Perhaps the bigger rooms are better for this. My room was just about adequate for one person but if I was sharing definitely more space would have been needed.

Walking into the front reception you are greeted by staff with a lovely iced herbal tea. You are then taken, either walking or by tuk tuk to your room. The property facilities are exceptional, and feels as if you are on a film set. Everything is very new and modern, with eco smart materials and design in mind. Bonus is free access to The Beach club, which has a small swimming pool looking out to the ocean, private beach access and excellent cocktails.

Bit of a dry international atmosphere, as in it's not clear you're even in Thailand. Eating options were limited - whilst breakfast was excellent and busy, restaurants in the evening were almost empty lacking atmosphere, and not many really great options to walk to from the hotel

Absolutely nothing :)

This hotel totally exceeded our expectations. They claim that they offer a "wellcation" and they really do. They thought of every single detail of how a guest can make the best of their vacation in terms of relaxation and wellbeing. We attended almost all activities they provide despite having a one year old baby :) Why? Because we enjoyed them so much and they created such a great atmosphere that even exercising at 8 am and 3 pm seemed so natural. The food is organic (!); our baby loved their breakfast with wide variety of fresh fruits, we loved their Thai dishes for breakfast, freshly squeezed and best tasting mango juice. They even have their own bakery on-site. The housekeeping service was twice daily. The staff was exceptional in making us feel great. We even attended a tour with a longtail boat to Hong island which I also recommend. I also recommend working out in Varana's fitness which is perfectly equipped. When we drove to night market in Ao Nang, we were extremely satisfied also with the location of Varana which is a 15 minute drive from Ao Nang. This is great because Ao Nang is overly packed with tourists. Overall, we will come again and again and again for sure and recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to invest in their overall health and wellbeing :)

1. An iron should be provided in the room. It was promptly brought up when I called reception. 2. Bathrooms were new but needed a bit of attention as the shower cubicle had a small leak. 3. The long tail boat used in the island tour booked through the hotel needs to be a bit cleaner.

The only thing it is a bit pricy on the beach and the coctails are so so, for that prices you should poor more liquire, still worth it ;)

This is super nice hotel, with beautifull rooms, gym, pool areas. Sad we stayed only 5 days, could be more. The breakfast nice, full of options. Staff very polite, morning and afternoon activities also nice, do rock climbing , streaching, mui thay. The olimpic pool is just wonderfull. Bigest recomendations. Beach is also very cool, have good music, good vibe, not too much people. Keep in mind that in the evening there is low tide, But all in all very nice.

Lack of ambiance. Sister hotel had more ambiance with happy hour & a DJ, followed by live band. Varana Hotel perhaps could have had similar. Maybe its because the beach bar at Varana wasnt yet completed, so perhaps this area on the beach is allocated for live music for hotel guests. Hotel restaurant for dinner was a bit pricey with average size portions.

Beautiful hotel, Immaculate and staff were very friendly. Rooms are baby friendly and great breakfasts! Complimentary transfers to sister hotel, The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort to use their beach facilities.

We spent hours looking for what we wanted for our trip to South Thailand and eventually chose Varana. We have no regrets and the trawl through different areas/hotels was worth it to land on this place. Our stay was exceptional. I started writing a really long review and then I decided just to go with…. Book it, you won’t be disappointed!!!

This was by far my favourite location during my stay in Thailand. The room was spacious, clean and modern and the bed was comfortable. There are three pools in the hotel which are clean and well maintained. The beach club connected with the hotel is excellent and the beach is stunning. There is also a pool in the beach club. They offer free activities on the beach which is great, or you can chill on the beach beds or poolside. The beach was not crowded like some other places we stayed and there was not loads of long tail boats going back and forth which was a relief. The food at the hotel was excellent - we ate in both restaurants and poolside. The food in the Chinese restaurant was super tasty and even the food poolside was well presented and scrummy. There is also a strip of restaurants and a few shops on the road which is nice if you fancy a stroll.

Amazing concept, really nice staff and excellent facilities. We really enjoyed the wellness offerings of the hotel, from the Spa to the delicious and healthy breakfast. The photos don't do it justice, it's even better in real life. The hotel is spacious, the perfect place to relax, but also very easy to visit all the nice places of the Krabi area (Hong island which is very close, Railey beach, Ao nang and the 4 islands).

When we were checking out, we tried to call a Grab but nobody accepted. I asked the stuff and they said that’s normal that they don’t usually come to this area. I asked how we can call a taxi then, we were supposed to go to the pier, they told me there’s a taxi stand nearby. They didn’t offer to call one so I asked them their phone number - they said they don’t have it (!). My husband had to go to this taxi stand himself and called a taxi (the guy at stand wasn’t speaking English). So if you stay at this hotel, it’s better if you could organize your transport beforehand, they are not very helpful.

Some suggestions for improvement: - Some charges are excessive, eg for ice bucket which I asked for swollen foot (but maybe it was a misunderstanding). Price of laundry is per piece of clothing and is really way above normal price in Thailand (maybe tenfold). 300 Baht credit in minibar was appreciated though - Time of room cleaning could be better organised to coincide with times where room is most likely empty (eg between 12 and 15) - Accessibility should be improved as eg breakfast is served on first floor reachable by stairs but not by lift (same for reception); even though breakfast can be served in room, it is not the same - Towels and drinks/food consumed at pool should be more readily cleaned up - Transfers organised by hotel are expensive, we suggest to use the app Grab, although one time we couldn’t find any available driver

What we liked the most; - Very good location, outside of Ao Nang madness but still everything you may need is within reach. The beach and the view from there is amazing - Very beautiful resort with many pools and activities, sustainability effort (eg no plastic) and good food and drinks both at breakfast and at Nook restaurant - Amazingly helpful and friendly staff, they also helped me and were genuinely caring when I sprained my ankle and could not easily move around (I got a wheelchair from hotel) - Room was very comfortable, well designed and decorated and clean. Good air conditioning system (not directly pointed at bed which makes it ok to use at night). Good lighting. Wifi ok

Breakfast was wonderful. The bread and cakes were freshly baked on site, and everything was fresh, delicious and healthy. The juice selection was great. The rooms were spacious and stylishly decorated. The TV easily connected to Netflix, the sound system was fantastic and the pools were amazing. The staff were all very friendly and professional. The gym was the best hotel gym I have ever seen. It had everything you need and was brand new and pristine.

This resort has a holistic vibe all across, perfect for a retreat. We spend our last two days in Thailand here and it’s a perfect way to end a trip. 1. Rooms- massive, stunning, well equipped, balconies with stunning sunsets, most comfy massive beds, and connecting rooms for families. 2. Spa- divine. You get a free spa experience . 3. Breakfast- perfection! Healthy freshly made food with loads of options to cheese from. 4. Beach- gorgeous and you can use SAP for free 5. Pools- these are the highlight for us- 1 infinity full Olympic pool ( 50 m) , 1 wellness pool with jacuzzis, 1 chill out pool and 1 pool with a swim up bar - the last 2 are connected. 6. Restaurants- there’s a Chinese and an Italian/thai restaurant. We only ate at the Italian/ Thai as the other wasn’t vegetarian or kids friendly in our view. 7. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
