Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIf I have to be picky: of course, if you want great views, it is better to be on top of a hill. But the hill is very steep. It is only a 5 minute walk, which is fine downhill, but uphill in the summer heat is quite tough. The hotel does offer a free hourly shuttle though. And the walk is good to walk off dinner.
Beautiful hotel. We got a free upgrade to the Honeymoon Suite which was an incredible room. The staff were always polite and happy to help. The pool was great with a few layers and a view of the ocean from the top. The bottom of the hill had great access directly to a lovely white sand beach or lots of shops and restaurants.

New ZealandThis did not feel like a 5 start resort because of the staff. There were a few lovely ones but majority of the staff at the front desk were very grumpy and unhelpful. Made you feel like it was a hassle to help with something. Communication was poor- for example: they changed our tour time and said they tried to call our room but no one ever rung etc. Our room was not ready for check in on time. We had to wait around and saw lots of other guests in their situation. We had a situation where the previous person in our room broke a mirror and we told them we had found shards of glass in our room. They were not helpful or sorry and said someone would clean it up- this was never done. We had to ask and ask and ask for our room to be serviced daily. There was one cleaner who worked a few of the days who was amazing and cleaned it without us having to ask. So we tipped her. But the housekeeping was very average. The room was huge and beautiful but on closer inspection it was tired and had a few very patch up jobs (on a wall area for example. Be prepared to walk up a big hill to get to and from the resort. There is a shuttle but it only operates once and hour until 5:00 pm. So if you go for dinner you have to walk back up the hill. Only way to get the amazing view though. Food at the restaurant was expensive and not great. Better off to walk to Kata beach for food. Breakfast was average.
The location, view and room was awesome! The pool were amazing. We stayed in the honeymoon suite. The bed was huge and very comfy.

MalaysiaThe biggest issue with this property is that it’s marketed as a 5 star hotel where it’s barely managing to meet 4 star quality. Firstly, it’s impossible to contact this hotel via messaging or email. I sent several messages regarding our booking prior to arrival and they were all ignored for weeks. I eventually received a short response assuring us our booking request was confirmed. However, when we arrived at the hotel to check in, the lady at reception was incredibly rude to us about the issues they had assured us would be fine. They eventually allowed us to check in. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite - while it had a lovely view and comfortable beds, the rainfall shower head was so rusted, it couldn’t be used. The water pressure in the bathroom fluctuated from 100% pressure to 30% pressure while water temperature changed every 20 seconds. The basin tap was at an angle, loose and incredibly dirty and unhygienic. There were no products provided to us such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc which is an expectation for a 5 star hotel. We didn’t receive room service/cleaning on one of the days of our stay, and despite claiming to change our bedding when we requested it, the same blood stain (not ours) was still on the bedding, just turned over. The location is good but unfortunately up a very steep hill which is unsafe to walk on due to no side path. The hotel offers shuttles on the hour but these shuttles only run until 5pm so you need to pay taxis if you cannot manage the walk. There are also no elevators and many stairs on the property so not user-friendly for anyone who cannot climb stairs easily. The breakfast was sub-par, with poor quality and variety. The only decent selection was the fruit each morning. When requesting ice, you are required to pay for it first. This was terribly disappointing experience from a hotel claiming to be 5 stars and unfortunately I cannot recommend it to anyone.
Most of the staff were exceptionally friendly, except for the reception lady who checked us in, who was incredibly rude to us about an issue with our booking which the hotel had assured us would not be an issue prior to arrival. The beds were comfortable. The view is incredible.

United KingdomOur room was filthy when we arrived. The shower and bathroom had mildew and hairs in it. The pillows and mattress toppers were heavily stained, some were were even brown and smelt. The hotel had to change our room due to the lack of cleanliness.
There is not much I liked about this hotel, apart from the man who worked on reception. Unfortunately I didn’t get his name but he was very helpful and friendly.

New ZealandOur trip was off on a bad start when we rang the service desk prior to coming enquiring about services to get to the hotel, they asked to speak to our prior hotels front desk and then hung up and never answered anymore calls - our previous hotel organised transport for us. On our first night our air conditioning wasn't working, it was 21 degrees at night. It took two hours of "15 more minutes" for them to finally move us to another room (At this time it was 10pm). The next day the card they gave us for our new room was not working as they only put it as one day. Our original room had no shower, only an outdoor one.. The bathroom in the second room had no curtains - was a large glass window seeing outside. I assume it was suppose to be a one way window but when we had a look for ourselves you could see inside. The pathway outside the bathroom was very busy as that was how visitors got to and from the beach. The laundry service at this hotel was extremely expensive, pricing was by item. We ended up using the laundry service down the road at the family mart, which was a great service. When we got drinks from the outdoor bar they were warm, when asking the staff if they could swap for a cold one or had any cold ones they did not understand what we were asking and gave us a bucket of ice. The provided hotel transport to the beach only ran every hour and stopped early in the night, too early to have dinner and get a ride back. You could not walk from the beach to the hotel unless it was your only option as it was a very steep walk up a narrow road. Room service was at 5pm which was very annoying after having such long days and using this time to relax/nap in your room before dinner. And with the "villa" I did not expect it to be connected to other "villas". It was not a villa on its own, was joint to multiple other villas with a shared front porch.
The view from our room to the ocean was the best part of our stay here.

United StatesThe breakfast is good, we had dinner at the hotel restaurant one day, it was also delicious. Parking is good, there’s stuff there all day to direct you in/out the hotel. Swimming pool area is spacious, and you have a nice seaside view there. Our room is clean and spacious, enough for 3 people to stay and relax.

ThailandStaff - The reception staff were decent but the worst was during breakfast Breakfast - the worst breakfast buffet ever. Very limited choices and everyday it's the same. I expected more from a 5 star hotel. I had better breakfast at 3 star hotels Food - the menu is so limited and it took so long to get our food for dinner Cleanliness - when we checked in the room was not so clean. The bathroom had some hairs, the floor was a bit dusty, and it looks like they never cleaned the wardrobe as it was very dusty. Even after we complained they didn't clean the room well. The balcony was also very dirty. We had a cockroach once in our room Toilet - for some reason the toilet was clogged on the first day and we didn't even throw any toilet paper inside it Another thing I want to add is they forgot to give us 2 complimentary water bottles for one of the days we stayed
I liked the location despite being located a little bit high up the hill. I liked the restaurant staff during dinner time. That's about it

Australia*Front desk staff rude on check in and when checking out. Zero customer service *First room was a disgrace - Half the lights did not work, Was filthy beyond belief and the manger changed our rooms immediately once I pointed out the state of everything *We have a party of 3 and were often given 2 towels and on 1 occasion only given 1 towel and this was the same for the allocated swimming towels when our room was made up daily *Should of seen the red flags at the resturant - No one ate there. I tried a fish burger and it was half cooked. I sent it back and waited 15mins then cancelled the order. I ordered in from a local Pizza place for dinner, *Ordered room service once - 2 out of the 3 meals arrived and waited 10 mins for the third *Came back from a day trip, our room was still being made up at 5.45pm so we grabbed a few drinks and sat by the balcony overlooking the sea whilst waiting. The bar staff wanted to charge us a fee because we brought ouy our own drinks. I tried to explain the situation of WHY we were here and he wasn't interested. I lost my patience and tore a few strips off him - No fee was charged
The grounds were clean

ItalyReceptionist were overall rude (they ask you to sit and wait without any form of greeting when checking in/out). Overall cleanliness is underwhelming for a 4 star hotel, with the rooms looking run down and not cared for, with a not nice smell. There were stains on the linens, and one day the bathroom was clearly not cleaned (we had to ask for it at the reception). To reach the location you have to walk 10 minutes up a hill, it would not be an issue if only there were sidewalks (you have to walk on the road and at night it can be a bit unsafe). While the road itself is not an hotel issue, the shuttle service provided by the hotel stopped working around 5.30PM, which does not make much sense since most guests go to Kata during the evening. Overall it’s not worth to spend 100+ eur a night here all things considered, there is better value for money around Kata.
The location and the view were stunning
