Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MauritiusUnfortunately, the place is a little bit run down but has so much potential. No wifi in the bedrooms but not a real issue. The shower needs to be fixed.
To wake up with the view on the garden and lake was fantastic. The little bungalows are awesome. It was an amazing experience to see the local fishermen coming back on their beautiful boat singing. We had a swim and boat tour to the island which was a real bliss. The food was good.

BelgiumIt’s very basic. Pretty dark in the room. The faucet halfway broken. no carpet coming out of the shower. It would have been ok 40 years ago.Not today. The road is very bad. Why to lie about the distance . It is not 100meters but between 300 and 400. Enough to puncture a tire. The wifi is a joke better in the restaurant far from being perfect.
The food , the ground, the kindness of Eric of and the other employee at the restaurant and the proximity to lake Kivu.

NetherlandsYou do need a 4x4 to get here but that’s with almost all the accommodations in Rwanda, no problem, you’ll make it 😃
Really really nice place, the view is amazing, the food is nice, staff are really friendly, they can arrange boat tour and kayaks, the garden is so beautiful and the rooms look better than on the booking pictures. We really liked it here

South AfricaService at the restaurant is pretty slow. We were charged more for a boat trip than we later saw advertised in other (fancier) hotels. Note that the location on booking.com is completely wrong, and Google maps takes you along an impassable dirt road. Keep an eye out for sign posts and ask locals
Amazing location with direct access to the lake. Nice open air restaurant with Rwandan specialities. Lake views from every room.

SwedenPlain water is not included in the breakfast. Even if you don't take coffee/tea (which is included) and want to replace it with water, they will charge you for it.
Rwiza Village is really in a superb location. The view over Lake Kivu is wonderful and watching the fishermen going out on the lake in their boats in the afternoons and returning at sunrise was an unforgettable experience. The rooms are basic, but designes very nicely and the view from the balcony is superb. The place has a nice small bathing spot. The shore is quite steep so perhaps not ideal for little children. The breakfast was nice and we got a wonderful fruit plate each morning.

South AfricaI understand the property has no control over this, but on my last day, across the lake, pigs were screaming bloody murder until the nightly hours. The next morning I was awaken at 5 am by these screams. But this is honestly the only bad experience I had.
It was so beautiful, and comfortable, the staff, especially Jojo, were so helpful and friendly. It was an incredible experience. Watching the singing and whistling fishermen return from a night of fishing, was probably the highlight of my stay! The view of the sun setting over the lake from the restaurant is also like something out of a movie!

United KingdomIt is a hill side traditional style hut so expect it to be rustic and small, not a 5* hotel. The road to the hotel for the last 200m is genuinely very tight and would require a light 4x4 to access...don't rely on Google maps to get you there.
The views are stunning, watching the fishermen chant on their way back to port was unforgettable. The gardens are immaculately kept with swimming access to the lake. Staff were outstanding throughout our stay. Breakfast of omelette and fresh topical fruits was delicious and the view again, phenomenal.
