Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

RomaniaEverything is stuck in a bygone era, the place actually reminded me of my childhood 30 years ago in Communist Romania 😑 old & crusty furniture, horrible food & little to no customer experience. The spa line was busy for 3 days before our arrival, as well as no response to our email so we couldn't book spa treatments in advance, nor could we get a spot at check in. Our door could not close so they sent up 2 locksmiths who had to buy spare parts & replace the whole hinge system - this took over 1 hour and a half, time taken out of our holiday to serve as the locksmith's keeper (they couldn't offer us a replacement room as the hotel was fully booked). Hot water did not run at certain intervals (eg around 4-5 PM). Once at the restaurant, we ordered from the a la carte menu (btw 90% of the items on the menu are kept frozen or canned, there's nothing fresh) & from their Menu of the Day - the food came cold and tasteless, their coffee was rust broth, we told the waitress she need not bother with the last plate but she brought it to the table anyways and did not even take it off the bill although we left without even touching it. By the end of our stay, we complained to the front desk and they offered us a 15% discount on our next stay, we wanted basic comfort on the day not a second chance to be disappointed - absolutely no proactivity and foresight, contempt for their guests, no knowledge over hospitality and no standards in business whatsoever. A definite disgrace.
Front desk staff were really nice & helpful - the only ones who actually smiled at us

RomaniaSome of the saunas were not working, the hot pool was new but looked improvised because of some hose coming out of it. General feel of the hotel: dark and empty in some areas.
Nice views from the balcony. The sulphur bath is great.

United KingdomThe fact that there is no way to get a drink after 10pm, as everything is shut down. For a resort, it's shameful to not have bar staff until midnight or something. All we wanted is a couple of glasses of wine to enjoy as we were closing our day.
The staff, the view and the food.

RomaniaExtremely expensive for what it offers. Looks like you stepped into a hotel from the 80s or 90s - has not been renovated for a very long time, dark, sad-looking rooms, old and small bathrooms, elevators don't work well. Very difficult to navigate for a disabled person. Despite the extremely expensive rooms, you have to pay for EVERYTHING extra in the spa. Procedures and massages are also extremely expensive. Also, you have a mini-bar in each room with very cheap products for which you have to pay much over the market value. Basically, would not come back. After the visit, you almost feel like you have been robbed of your money.
Very friendly staff and very good food.

RomaniaHad Breakfast and lunch included. Coffee and juice are available only at breakfast. If you are "late" you might not have all the options for food available ONLY if you ask the staff to bring them out. Broken toilet (still functional tho). Spa was ok, just needed some additional signs about what areas are restricted, where are the bathrooms, how to operate certain saunas, etc The elevators were always full, and would skip your floor. Better programing for these would enhance the experience. The stairwell would be a second option, but it looked like it wasn't cared for in 30 years, with broken stairs, rusty handrail and broken glass. The exterior sidewalks and paths could use some repairs, since they have potholes, cracks; a lot of weeds instead of planned out gardening.
Plenty of options to choose from at breakfast and dinner Different options for indoor/outdoor pools and saunas Awesome view

RomaniaSo many small, annoying things like: 1. The room (7/10) - door could only be open with a kick - key-card holder in the wall useless (lights stayed on with or without the card) but randomly beeping at times - noisy fan in the bathroom, connected to the light switch, so you can't skip it - no info-sheet in the room with wifi password, spa / restaurant opening hours etc. For every little info you need to go to reception - want to call from the room? on the phone there are numbers for reception, spa reception or the manager. They don't work. When asked, the reception will tell you just dial 0 (not the no written on the phone) - no "Do not disturb" sign available, room service will just knock (not hear your response) and enter - repeated power cuts (and beeps) - various noises from around the hotel: mechanic banging a pipe, lawnmower, loud music from the neighboring pool or town fest - open the balcony door early in the morning and instead of fresh mountain air you'll get the smell of freshly fried scrambled eggs and sausages 2. The restaurant (7/10) - same food at the buffet every day, no variety and not many options for a healthy diet - for lunch or dinner you cannot order a la carte, you can take the menu of the day (two course meal) or go to reception and ask access to the all you can eat buffet (60 lei) 3. Wellness & Spa (7/10) - to access the sulfurous bath (the main attraction of Herculane), you need to pay 35 lei/20 min, have previous appointments or a visit with the hotel doctor... it's much easier and cheaper to go elsewhere - the music at the outdoor pool is too loud, inappropriate for relaxation (80s & 90's disco, or simply heart-pumping beats), played on a faulty stereo and mixed with the (even louder) music from the neighbor pool (Sara's Sons)
Very nice hotel location on top of the hill, room with a great view over the town, good spa, friendly & helpful staff

RomaniaThe Hotel needs to be renovated as it’s an old hotel and lots of things needed to be renovated. Parking facility is a bit too small for a hotel so big. The 35 Ron to access the sulphurous bath 🧼 is a joke! it should be free!!!
The Hotel is an old one but offers bathrobes and slippers to access the spa facilities and treatments area. The views from the room are very nice 👌!

Romaniathe current renovations lack taste and understanding of the space making it uncomfortable. no parking spaces, nature around the hotel packed with cars of guests. overcrowded restaurant and spa.
the heritage of socialist infrastructure still can be felt through the current renovations. the spa was the best update, clean, modern, although could not accommodate all guests. the position up on the hillside offers great views of the valley.

RomaniaDisorganized!! Even you announced that you come there for SPA , the risk is to be not schedule and they don’t give you the possibility to schedule yourself in advance. Organization an cleanliness in the restaurant are far from a minimum standard. Those things ar barely touch it. Unfortunately , a pearl of antiquity like Herculane was let in a huge collapse.
SPA CENTER with various types of facilities ( pool, sulfur pool, 4 types of saunas, massage, hot pools outside, etc) On a area of 40 km around there are a lot of opportunities to have beautiful trips on mountain . If you are in a low budget period, is a good place for that .
