“A warm welcome on arrival.
We had asked for packed lunches for our walk on the Sunday and before we checked to see if they were ready/had they remembered, George (the owner) happily confirmed that the hearty sandwiches and a few extras for our long walk was ready to collect!
A really tasty breakfast and dinner menu - seasonal ingredients, something for everyone. The roast chicken was succulent and the cauliflower cheese tasted of cheese AND cauliflower, rather than floury-goop as sometimes served in other gastro pubs. Decent sized portions too - not too large, not too stingy.
I would happily recommend this place to everyone - whether stopping just for lunch or staying the night. Lovely friendly staff.”
“The room was beautifully clean and well equipped with tea/coffee maker and biscuits, overlooking the lovely garden at the back. The property is full of history and is kept in excellent condition. Our host, Roxy, was super friendly and helpful, and the breakfast had a great range of options. We enjoyed a pretty walk along the river into the town and back again. Plenty of easy parking, and surrounded by a garden full of flowers. Very quiet location, on a service road alongside the main road - couldn't hear any traffic at all. Highly recommend this gorgeous place!”
