“They are building a lovely guest area. It’s a true nature paradise with natural swimming pool and spectacular Mountain View’s. Frog and birds sounds are really enjoyable. I’ve asked to use the sauna and was lucky. Holiday apartment was nee equipment and nice.”

Wonderful host, Joaquim(?), who recommended one of the best hiking trails we have ever done (see PS below). The breakfast was wonderful and served at time of our choosing. Couldn't speak more highly of this place and the host who came to meet us when we got lost! (PS. Recommend the Passadiços do Mondego, a wonderful 12km trek mainly on board walk in the Serra d'Estrela).”

“This was an "experience" for me and an amazing one. The moment I stepped in, I felt that this place was a part of Japanese culture. The staff was very kind, thoughtful and respectful: respectful to guests and to the Ryokan culture as a whole. The smell of tatami in the rooms, the futon I slept on and the Yukata we were provided with were all spot-on and ensured a smooth transition from traditional Viseu streets to Japan in our minds.
The place was shining clean (I could even use the Japanese word ~pika pika~ to describe how clean!) and the breakfast (the usual one that's included in the price) had a very nice freshly-made omelette and Castella cake (yummy and fluffy!). We didn't order lunch or dinner so I won't be able to comment on that even though I have no doubts it would be amazing as well!
The food area and the terrace at night time was very peaceful, dimly-lit and cosy which made the perfect atmosphere to experiment some sake (I mean Nihon Shuu) of which they had many different types!
I need to say that I had high expectations of this place and I am very pleased to write that it had satisfied my mind, my body and my soul even over a two-day stay. Thank you, Viseu Ryokan family!”
