“The host was lovely, and the room was good. It had everything we needed. The bathroom was modern and well sized. The accommodation was a short walk into the main centre of town. The host had packed a hamper breakfast for us which we took with us the next morning on our departure.”

  • Kames Hotel Review score: 8

“Beautiful location. Nice cosy bar, and excellent food. Staff were friendly, and they made it possible for me to have an evening meal, despite the restaurant being fully booked, when I arrived. My room was a basic single room (as I had booked), but comfortable and very clean. The price was reasonable, too, compared to other places.”

  • The Anchor Inn Review score: 10

“When we pulled up outside the Inn we both said, ‘ Oh well it’s only for one night’! It is an old roadside property and does not look appealing. But as soon as we opened the door we changed our mind. The bar is bright and interesting, the dining area is welcoming and nicely furnished but the real highlight is the staff. We were warmly welcomed by Chris behind the bar who is friendly, entertaining and very funny. Just what you need in a pub! He asked us about our preferences and then promptly upgraded us to ‘the best room in the house’! It was a great room with nice furnishings, a good bathroom, great wifi and probably the most comfortable bed we have had in the past 10 weeks away! Fortunately we ate there too. We were served by Jamie who is every bit as entertaining and friendly as Chris. We enjoyed a very good meal and a few local beverages.”
