Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalI have stayed already 3 times at The Ivens, and we can't get enough of it. The experience my wife and I have had there has simply gone up at every visit. Everything is just magical and well thought through. Great service, beautiful rooms, attention to detail, treats here and there, kind messages that make you feel good. The Acqua di Parma amenities is the novelty this time. Love their products. The shower, the pressure of the water, the bed and linens, the really puffy slippers (never seen elsewhere)...all exactly how things should be. I cannot recommend enough this hotel. And then there is the restaurant at the ground floor with an amazing and simply gorgeous cocktail bar. Amazing food, great service once again. And the breakfast is just another experience in itself. I recommend having it outside, in the "winter garden" / covered patio. All has been made for us to linger and relax.

United StatesThe room was not available at check in time, so we had to wait extra 40 minutes in the lobby. We also have to call the reception for wifi problem. The IT staff had to enter into the room to fix the issue.
The hotel is just beyond expectation. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The decor is just absolutely gorgeous. This hotel was definitely worth the stay.

United KingdomThere is one main thing that could have been better, but it is a big thing for us. Rocco is joined to the hotel (review for that separately above). Unfortunately, this is the only option within the hotel to have a drink in a bar. Out of the four nights of our stay, we tried to get a seat here four times. Three times there were no seats at all as it was too busy so we asked if we could take a drink to our room - On the first night we were allowed to take a bottle of wine to our room after much discussion and had a couple of wine glasses however, on the other evenings we were advised that we could only take a drink to our room in a paper cup! Instead, we visited a very friendly bar down the road and bought a bottle of wine from them instead and took it to our room. Whenever we go away, we really like sitting in the hotel bar either before we go out or when we get back to the hotel and not being able to do this did detract from the stay. The only other point would be to say that although the rooms are really quiet from outside noise, whenever anyone left their rooms and shut the doors, the wall shook and it was very loud, although we did get used to this.
Great location, Lovely hotel and most staff were friendly. Although the rooms were quite small, the quality of the furnishings, bedding, toiletries etc were great. Lovely little messages and gifts throughout our stay which were nice. Great double glazing - really quiet at nights. We ate in Rocco a couple of times during our stay and the food and wine was great, we did only eat at lunch time though as the evenings were way too busy for us.

PortugalIn the heart of Lisbon, The Ivens Hotel, Autograph Collection, is a true haven of sophistication and comfort. Its perfect location, close to the Tagus River and surrounded by the vibrant energy of the Lisbon city center, offers guests a unique and memorable experience in the Portuguese capital. From the moment of booking to the time of check-out, the hotel staff's service is truly remarkable. We were greeted with warm and attentive hospitality that made us feel truly special. The pre-arrival treatment was marked by exceptional care, culminating in an upgrade to one of the hotel's finest suites. The dedication and attention to detail from the team were remarkable, ensuring that every moment of our stay was unforgettable. The hotel's décor reflects a contemporary and elegant style, with elements that evoke the history Ivans and Capelo adventure. The hotel's theme is seamlessly integrated into all spaces, providing a welcoming and engaging atmosphere. One of the most striking features of The Ivens Hotel is its perfect integration with the Rocco restaurant. The charming ambiance and exceptional cuisine of the restaurant complement the hotel experience ideally, allowing guests to enjoy true flavors in a sophisticated and welcoming setting. Our suite was truly spectacular, and we were greeted with a special treat: a delicious red velvet cake and a bottle of prosecco, accompanied by a personalized message, demonstrating the hotel's care and attention to its guests. Without a doubt, The Ivens Hotel, Autograph Collection, is a must-visit destination in Lisbon. Its combination of prime location, exemplary service, stunning décor, and exceptional dining experience makes it an unmatched choice for those seeking a truly memorable stay in the Portuguese capital. Congratulations to The Ivens for providing such a spectacular experience. We can't wait to return!

United StatesThe room was either too small, or needed to be better organized. It felt overcrowded. We were only there for two nights. A prolonged stay would have magnified that.

DenmarkWe occupied a very smart very comfortable big bedroom, where everything functioned as intended. The smart design with a huge king size bed in the middle of the room only had the disadvantage that the breakfast trolley couldn’t pass it, & had to remain in the entrance of the room.
It is a beautifully decorated & well functioning hotel. The Staff was extraordinarily friendly, helpful & efficient. The restaurants Rocco, Crudo Bar & Gastro Bar, all in connection with each other, were absolutely nice, again beautifully designed, efficiently staffed, & with exciting & even delicious menues & very skilled sommeliers. If you want to go for the Italian part of the menu then be aware that it would more precise to name it the American-Italian menu.

United StatesRoom:Size: T I N Y. Did I say TINY? Yesss. And like I said, we are from NYC so we are used to small spaces. There was room for one suitcase but the other - good luck. Time to battle it out with your spouse for prime floor real estate! My suitcase was one that opens into two halves (ok, large I know but I just had the one) and this took up the entire floor space on the side of my bed. Can't count how many times my foot ended up in my suitcase when trying to get out of bed. And there were small chairs and tables at the foot of the bed which we never used, because, you guessed it - they were covered in our other bags/carry ons etc. So cramped. Closet didn't have much space either. Maybe if you are a solo traveler it would be fine but for a couple with a decent amount of luggage on a European vacation for over one week it was not comfortable. And this was not a low tier room. This was a room we paid extra to have a balcony. On that note, this balcony door was the only window in our room and since it was past the foot of the bed you could basically not see anything out of the room unless you stepped into the balcony alcove. Otherwise you would just look at the walls. Which brings me to my next point...Decor: Did a small earthquake shake the Ivens hotel so that all of the decor and artwork slid down the walls to land in the lobby and restaurant? Why is the main level so beautifully decorated with paintings, colors, lights, etc and the interior of the bedroom had barely anything? Behind the bed was a lovely large tapestry but since the only place to sit in the room (remember: chairs covered with stuff!) was on the bed with your back facing the headboard you basically looked at 3 white walls, a white ceiling, and no outdoor view.. but at least there was a quirky yellow bug sculpture on the wall. I expected more from such a fancy hotel at the price we paid. But again, maybe this was just our room, lucky 404!
My husband and I stayed at the Ivens Autograph in Lisbon for four days and while we very much enjoyed it, we had mixed feelings. We've stayed at many hotels and resorts all around the world and I usually don't review them but there were several aspects of our hotel that we wished we had known beforehand so I will share here with others. I was a bit shocked at all of the 5 star reviews but maybe they did not stay in our room (404) because the other rooms in the photos look better. Let me start with the positives! Hotel lobby and staff: Amazing decor! Wonderful concierge and door staff - so kind and helpful!! We sat in the lobby numerous times testing out all the different nooks and chairs - very well done! And the smell, wow, takes you to a botanical garden! Rocco restaurant: The restaurant attached to the lobby of the hotel was also amazing. Unique decor, trendy, delicious food, great service - and we are from Manhattan with many great restaurants and we were still very impressed. Loved the dj too, pretty cool to have such "action" on a Monday night. Fun weekend feeling every night! .Location: Central, good. But be prepared to walk up and down hills on (sometimes slippery) cobblestone - so ladies wear flat shoes with traction! The street itself is nothing special. Check out the ceramics store across the street, gorgeous pieces. We had a nice time but for this level and price there were more disappointments than expected. I know you cannot change the room size in this old historic building. My advice: dig into those pockets and decorate the bedroom walls in the same theme as the rest of the hotel, add some shelves and hooks to the bathrooms, and consider changing room 404 to a queen bed (if you offer that). 5 stars for the positives, 3 stars for the negatives, so giving it a 4 star review. :) Next stop: Algarve!
