We had a great 2 days stay at Rocha da Gralheira. Stay which was made even better by the warm hospitality from Glaucia at the reception (sorry if I did not spell well).

First off, we were booked to arrive at the hotel early evening, but unfortunately we missed our flight which now meant we will be arriving at midnight too late for checking in, but we were very lucky to receive a phone call from a lovely lady by the name Graça and I told her our dilemma of which she responded very assuring that it’s not a big problem at all about what time we get there, so we kept intouch with her thought until we landed in Faro and texted her on the way to the hotel, we arrived at the reception few mins after 1am and the lady received us with a big smile and we chatted like we were of friends. very accommodating she was. our in this hotel continued to be very enjoyable until the last day. very nice staff. thank you Graça

This place was an unexpected gem. Beautiful views of the valley from the glass elevator and the restaurant, comfortable room with plenty of space for our family of 5, and a fantastic dinner at the restaurant. We had the salmon, the bacalao, and the kids churrasco, all of which were excellent. The breakfast was also delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was easy, even for our large van. We also enjoyed hunting for frogs in the historic fountain across the street. Would definitely stay here again!

we landed at 2.00am in the afternoon and no one was on reception until 2.45pm which was fine as you cannot check in until 3.00pm. However there was no where to have a drink and relax. The restaurant shut about 3.30pm and there was no where to sit and have a drink until 7.00pm. we were away from the town so it was to dark to go out. We had a meal at the hotel but the staff were not very friendly and you didn’t feel comfortable sitting at the table after the meal.

It has the most beautiful views, waking up here from the hillside. Also great position to explore many places. The room was comfortable and we all slept well, they even arranged for a small bed to be made up, for our daughter, for free. A lovely buffet breakfast too on the terrace.

Couldn't sleep at night because of noise from the restaurant and barking dogs. Sink in the bathroom would not drain and needed to be repaired.

The location wasn’t ideal so a car was absolutely necessary. The pool was very dirty as it was full of flies / debris every day. The bathroom in the room had a constant unpleasant sewage smell from the pipes and the shower was strong but flooded often because the plug appeared to be full of hairs from previous guests. It was very noisy at night and it was impossible to order food or drinks / use the terrace outside restaurant hours. They also charged us for water each day which given the limited options available to us, seemed unreasonable

Breakfast was ok, the view was nice and the staff were pleasant. The mini bar was also well stocked and the room was cleaned when requested. The restaurant was also quite nice - albeit there were no options for vegetarians - but it closed at inconsistent times

The hotel is run on a very restaurant centric basis. While laying on sun beds around the pool you are being overlooked by Resturant diners! I didn’t want a full sit down lunch. I couldn’t even buy a banana, despite being able to see them in the breakfast area!

Views are spectacular. Our first room smelled and was mouldy Our second room shower leaked. We complained but nothing was done! We found the rooms a little small and had windows looked into by adjacent rooms. The pool area was poor! The pool was dirty and needed a refurbishment. The umbrellas were broken. The shaded area to the back of the pool area were also damaged. The pool area shower need a spanner to turn on and off.

The main thing we didn't like, was the view. Our window went straight to some (I think) solar panels. The rooms on the other side of the hall must have a spectacular view of the landscape ... And one thing seemed to be odd - only the main bedroom has air condition. We left the doors of both bedrooms open and it worked perfectly to cool the two rooms, even in summer, but if you want privacy, the smaller bedroom won't get any cold air.

Our stay at the hotel was pleasant. The rooms were big enough, the bathroom was big and we had a minifridge and a kettle in the room. Shower and water pressure were great. We were on the third floor, but there are elevators to get there without any hassle. Breakfast was exceptional. A lot of things to choose from, even baked beans and ham & eggs.

The rooms were well cleaned, the staff incredibly friendly, the pool was the perfect size with lots of lovely comfortable loungers, the breakfast was amazing and the restaurant also. The night receptionist Graca (I think) was lovely, so happy and smiley and really made it feel like home. The views were amazing from the pool, terrace and room.

Nothing. Everything was perfect!

The staff were very friendly and genuinely eager to make our stay perfect. We are vegans and even before we departed to Portugal they wrote an email to us and assured us there would be plenty of breakfast for vegans and soy milk for my tea. Upon arrival we upgraded to a bigger room with an amazing view on the advice of the lady at reception. We were not disappointed. We are planning to stay longer at this hotel next time. Thank you for a perfect stay over!
