The house could do with some updating. When I unplugged a plug there was a spark. Rust on the bathroom soap holder and the clothes airer.

The pool area was clean and well looked after.

No hospitality on arrival, e.g. sachet of coffee or tea bags which can be a bit difficult when the onsite supermarket is closed in winter. If you don't have your own transport be sure to take basic supplies to get started as nearest supermarkets about 30 mins walk (when local ones closed in winter). Also, there is a washing machine and dishwasher but no tablet or powder to get you started, one would be helpful. Also absolutely no toiletries, two hand soap dispensers were present but completely empty, so take soap, etc. With you. The TV was very disappointing, considering that most of the clientele appeared to be english- speaking there were only a handful of portuguese channels and these had some reception issues with sound and picture distortion. Overall whilst some aspects of the resort are very charming, we wouldn,'t stay again in winter without transport

Very spacious accommodation with 2 bathrooms and well equipped kitchen. On site restaurant offers a full menu and also a tourist menu which we found to be good value at only 11.90 euros. The Sunday lunch was a delicious treat and only 12 euros - Highly recommended. There was a huge and private terrace for sunbathing, table and chairs provided but no sun loungers. On arrival we were informed that we had booked with a private owner which was a bit of a surprise as we had booked with booking dot com we had thought with the resort. We were given a phone number to phone the owner if we had any problems. However we did find the resort staff to be pleasant and helpful. Wifi worked great. They left us a tea towel, dish cloth, scouring pad and a small amount of washing up liquid and loo rolls to start. Towels were provided and someone knocked on the door twice during the week to offer fresh towels, no other housekeeping or bed-making was offered, we were quite happy with that.

the housekeeping team needs to clean better the fridge,windows, washing machine tray and round the bath need to be cleaned as they have mould. The shower tray needs updating as it has patched, which makes it look dirty .

the area is great and the communal area is very well kept. Lots of places nearby to eat plus marina is only 2 min drive or 10 min walk . going to old town is cheap via uber. Beach is a walking distance. Will definitely return to this area

What I did not like was that in the night the fuses where tripping off and the kitchen could be slightly better equipped. The swimming pool supposed to be opened at all times and even in the winter.

The thing that was good about the location was that it was close to the beach also the resort was pretty close to Albufiera and close to some sourvenir shops.Good value for the money.

There was apparently free WiFi in the reception which I felt was a shame as most places offer free WiFi everywhere but it wasn’t a problem as we didn’t need to use gadgets anyway but with teens I would imagine it’s a nightmare. We also booked as it said a supermarket and restaurant on site but both were closed the day before we arrived and the duration of our stay. Again not a problem but could inconvenience less able bodied people.

Ponta grande is set at the top of a hill about 15minute walk from albuferia marina. It was a great location for lots of little beaches in the area The complex was clean and gardens very well maintained and everything seemed in good order.There were several restaurants nearby which were superb and for €4 you can get an Uber into Albufeira old town where the choice of restaurants is exceptional. The weather early November was mid 20s and very pleasant but did dip in the evenings and get dark quite early. For a couples getaway it was great and high season I should imagine it’s a hit with families and people of all ages. The pool was amazing and I swam several times and usually had the pool to myself ( a bit fresh when you first got in but after a few lengths it was lovely)

My Husband found the bed uncomfortable/hard but the rest of us were fine.

Great location, clean and spacious. Close enough to everything we needed but far enough away to be quiet and private. Our villa overlooked the pool from the front and had a spacious sun terrace around the back. Fantastic mini market on site selling fresh pastries for breakfast.

Although the Villa was a good size it was very tired and in need of refurbishment. The sofas had threadbare arms, poor general maintenance, e.g. bad paintwork etc. although it was listed as 4 star I would say it was 3 star accommodation.

Couple of issues with the room (not enough sheets and broken air con) quick to rectify. Cleanliness of the room could have been better.

The property itself was a great size for a family, the location is a little out of the way, although it's an easy walk to the Marina and into Albufeira old town itself if you are capable. The pool area was spacious and always plenty of sunbeds available. There is a snack bar/restaurant on site which serves really good food of reasonable price. The staff at the mini market are lovely, there isn't much choice but there are essentials (ice cream is cheaper in the mini market rather than the pool bar)

the swimming pool was amazing, clean, a very good size and excellent for the kids too. the resort had enough facilities that you could spend your whole day there. the villas were very well equipped and a good size. the restaurant on site serves really nice food, and there were additional games and playground to keep us entertained.

We stayed in house 59 and it was very clean and quiet. We travelled by taxi. The team in the restaurant are great along with the reception team. We ate in the restaurant a few times and the food was excellent value for money. It's only a 10 minute walk to the beach and there is a lovely child-friendly restaurant a 5 minute walk away called 'Margem'. We decided to stay on in Ponte Grande for a few more days as it was such a relaxing experience with a 5 year old.

The villa we stayed in was tired. I believe it was privately owned rather than by the Ponta Grande. The furnishings were old and damaged. However on the positive side , the size of the property was ideal for our requirements. location was excellent for us as we have a history with that particular area of the Algarve.

It states there is a hairdryer in the villas and when we arrived we were told by reception if there's any issues to email a company .when in villa I couldn't find a hairdryer so I emailed the company and they didn't reply so I had to buy one .

Had a meal in the restaurant was lovely.resort was very quiet so not all facilities available but we were able to play pool at night .

Some of the facilities in some accommodation were faulty. We stayed in a two-bed accommodation. We had to change rooms eventually because of the issues we were having in our initial accommodation. There were issues with the plumbing. The toilet was leaking when flushed and the sink was not flowing properly. The mattress in the main room was very uncomfortable. Because our stay was over the Xmas season, they seemed to be understaffed and couldn't attend to our complaints promptly. After 4 days of staying in a poor accommodation, we were eventually moved to another accommodation that also had a leaking sink. I would like to think if these issues are resolved in the accommodation at Ponta Grande Sao Rafael Resort, it will be a great place to stay. The hotel needs a skilled and more efficient maintenance team.
