Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandThe water in the shower took some time to heat up, but once it did was okay. I would add some facilities in the room, like a kettle. There are not many plugs and we had to coordinate to charge our phones. The hair dryer in the bathroom doesn't work. Another issue was that the elevator was out of service and we had to carry our luggage through the stairs.
The location of the place was great! And the personnel was extremely friendly :) Our room (204) was bright and ventilated, the beds were comfortable. Towels and toiletries were provided. The breakfast was simple but satisfactory! and the personnel provided hot water every time we needed.

SlovakiaThe hotel wants to look antique, but all what a traveler needs is a clean and functional space! And it wasn't. You don't need a tablecloth on a shelf (yes, it covered the hole) or flashy curtains. If you can't clean the carpet, why have it at all? Please throw that carpet away! The water from the old faucet in the bathroom dripped rather than flowed. A towel hook in the bathroom, nothing like that! It doesn't take a lot of money to renovate it. Just like breakfast. We didn't eat such a boring breakfast anywhere, not even in a lower priced hotel. It doesn't take much to make travelers feel better. It's a fact that in general Lisbon offers a lot of low-rated accommodation and it's hard to choose good value for money (compared to Italy, for example).
When you want to live in the centre, this is a good choice! The staff was very helpful.

IrelandThere was a bit of a bad smell from the bathroom plumbing but I got that here and there around Lisbon There was no hairdryer and it’s a long way down to reception. A kettle provided in the room would have been great!
The view from the fourth floor room was terrific. The room was spacious with very high ceilings. The windows were really large which was a bonus. Outstanding views day and night! Clean modern bathroom. Fridge provided. Nice simple breakfast.

CanadaNo hotel transport to/from airport despite hotel info stated a shuttle was available. No early breakfast, so had to skip to get to airport in time. Distance from hotel to airport longer than that stated in hotel information. Elevator broken so clerk and I had to haul luggage up 4 flights of stairs and I had to take it all down when I left.

United StatesAir conditioner was off, we just opened windows but it was to load outside (bars on the street are open till 2-3 am). There are no shelves in the shower, no where to put soap or shampoo. Elevator was not working last day, was not a big deal for u but might be for some. Hotel is located on the 7th hill of the Lisbon, so a lot of walking up the hill. No iron, no hair dryer, no big deal just bring yours if you need it.
Excellent location, walkable distance to most major attractions. Room is big for 4 people, 4 beds. Bathroom size is very good. Room was cleaned daily. Excellent view from our room on 4th floor. A lot of bars and cafes few mins away

CanadaThe first few days we stayed in the lower part of the building , I understand the building is under renovation, the room had 2 single beds which we’re comfortable, the furniture was tired and and not modernized, we almost changed our reservation for the second few days on our way back to Lisbon, we decided to stay again as it was our fourth visit to the hotel, upon arrival I asked if we could upgrade to a larger room and to our surprise we were pleasantly surprised as the top floor was fully renovated and was beautiful. We will return and will request that room we stayed it, over and over again. Good luck with all your renovations, looking forward to visiting beautiful Lisbon again🌸in the future.

United KingdomDifficult to find. And balcony is scarey due to wind. Breakfast is basic but help yourself.
Central location and reasonable staff who were helpful if you wait. Comfy bed and good facilities. Good soundproofing. Only stayed one night so perfect for what we needed. They had a fridge and safe and tv but we had no use for these. Good views but scarey balcony due to being high up and windy.
