Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThere was a bad smell coming from the drain in the shower probably due to old pipes and maybe the drain didnt close properly. We kept the bathroom door always closed.
It’s a fantastic location (in Alfama which is the Old Town). The apartment had a fabulous view with the river/sea. Great communication with the super friendly host!

FranceThe little garden / terrace wasn't as we'd hoped it would be, with no cushions as seen in the photos. Little mats outside/inside the door leading to the garden would help not to bring stones & dirt into the apartment
Easy arrival process. Comfortable living room with good wifi. Nice view of the city from the terrace. Very close to the Tram 28 stop to go to the city centre.

United KingdomShabby but charming
It is a charming property if you can ignore the gaffer tape on electric sockets and the gunk on the shower cubicle and the oomska in the corners. We could and loved the view ( We were in the upstairs apartment ) great location. Luis was nice .

FranceI didn't realise it was that close to Lisbonne Castle ! So well located ! As our flight has been delayed, we could'nt make it before 1am and were told to knock nearby for a lady to open and show us the apartment. Good key handover, Good place to stay if you want to cook and use the fridge but there are tons of restaurants nearby ! Go and enjoy grilled fish & bacalhau pasteis ! Bed was really comfy too!

AustraliaGreat location, good communication from our host. Good kitchen with coffee machine and all necessary equipment to cook a meal. Lovely view overlooking the river from the terrace. We stayed during autumn so wet weather prevented us enjoying the outdoor setting as much as we had hoped.

United KingdomWe left the windows open & someone got in & stole a bag from the lounge, which was unexpected as we were on the 2nd floor! Just keep them locked overnight! Also, no TV & the drains get quite clogged.
Cute little flat in a great part of Lisbon. Garden area was nice too but it was raining when we were there so couldn't use it much! Great host, arty decor, comfortable & good value but beware of thieves!

New ZealandI guess being in the old town part streets are all cobblestone. Not a good idea to bring too much luggage. Hard to push it around sine this accomodation is not accessible by car, just have to walk to side street to catch transport.
Centrally located. We were given a private unit of our own with kitchen, bathroom and vcomfy bed. Value for money. Very centrally located. Very accommodating host.

United KingdomWe weren’t expecting this to be the Hilton, however hygiene standards could be improved. There was also a bad smell from the bathroom. Also there was minimal condiments in the kitchen cupboards..only salt and coffee filters…no awaiting tea and coffee or essentials such as sugar.
The location was unreal! Hidden in the depth of the historic Alfama district was this cute little gem. What a find! We felt like we were walking into a fairytale, walking down the winding cobbled streets and up the narrow staircase to our humble yet beautiful abode. Really lovely views from the veranda and bedroom window and a fan in the loft room for the hot nights! Facilities were all that we needed. Simple, yet satisfactory..perfect for 4 people 👌 The owner Luis was great and very accommodating. He kept in touch via text message and phone, as he had an accident the day before we arrived. The day before we left my mum also had an accident, on an e-scooter and hurt her knee badly. The day of departure came and our flight wasn’t until 10pm. Luis very kindly and sympathetically allowed mum to stay in the apartment for the majority of the day to rest her leg, while the rest of us explored the city.
