Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsNo female dormitories, so you have no option but to share a room with men you don’t know. Which is quite scary. So I did not feel safe and slept not well. I was told the hostel is run by men, perhaps they can’t imagine what it’s like for a woman.
A nice hostel but unfortunately no female dormitories

GermanyIt's a great place to stay at. There is some space to hang out, an outside area and the location is pretty central, so a nice base to visit Sintra's attractions. The breakfast is really good too. In comparison to other places in the greater Lisbon area for the same price you get much more here. Clean and friendly staff, 10/10 recommend

CyprusThe location of finding your rooms is complicated. And the keys could open doors one way, but going back the same way you could not. You had to go outside all the way to the reception to go back inside the building.
The breakfast was very good and had everything you needed for it. Location was also close to the train station.

PakistanThe push button on showers was annoying 😑
Great location, lovely staff and super clean 👌 Rooms were big enough, storage lockers were secure and big enough to store everything. Apart from the one suite bathrooms each floor had a separate showering area.

First of all, I would like to thank Miguel separately for his care and attention to detail, because of him my stay was brightened up. A very comfortable bed with an outlet, a beautiful view of the hill, a decent free breakfast and good people around

South AfricaThere was no cupboard at all in the room to hang up clothes. A cup to drink water would also be welcomed. It was the first time in over 40 years of traveling that rooms are only available after 4 pm. World standard is normally 2 p.m., with the possibility of an early check-in if arranged in advance.
Room was quite and view was very good.

United StatesThey are using rubberized mattress protectors and I understand protectors are good. But, these do not breath and are too hot at night. The bed was comfortable except for this detail.
This is a solid choice. Clean, well run, great location, attached quality restaurant. I would stay here again.

United StatesThe shower situation was a bit challenging- nowhere to hang your clothes or towels and the light kept turning off when I was in the shower.
This is a nice hostel, newer or updated facilities, really close to the train station, beautiful kitchen, places to hang out and sit.

United StatesMy mattress was well worn in one spot, so I actually had to sleep in the opposite direction so as to not have to sleep in a depression. The showers in some of the bathrooms were very small and did not have any hangers, which made it difficult to find a place to hang your towel/clothes while showering.
The location of the hostel is perfect as it allows you to quickly access the historical sites. The cleaning crews did a great job at keeping the rooms and bathrooms very clean throughout my stay. The included breakfast was delightful and had plenty of options. The wifi was good overall, but it did struggle at times in certain parts of the property. The kitchen area was well stocked with dishes and pots/pans.

United KingdomThe demand to see passports as one of the first things at check-in felt quite aggressive whilst I realise this is policy in Portugal. It was still a little over the top but apart from that fine. The cost of €5 to store luggage per item was quite frankly disgraceful so three suitcases cost €15 to store in a massive room with space was not a premium. Bearing in mind the overall room and breakfast cost just over €100, €15 for this purpose was quite frankly rip-off. booking.com never confirmed the cost was per suitcase merely that there was a €5 fee ‘ per case’.
Breakfast was provided as part of the overall cost and was a buffet style in the shed kitchen; overall this was decent and outstanding value for money

NetherlandsAs an improvement the main door to the rooms hall was quiet noisy every time someone enter the door was slammed, and we woke up. There should be stopper or it needs to be fixed.
The cozyness of the hostel and the room. Breakfast was also very nice, simple but fresh foods. And, it is very close to the train station. Special thanks to staff, we requested early check-in, and made our room prio for cleaning and we was able to go 2 hours earlier, we were really tired after a long trip to reach there. Really appreciated kindness :) Plus, the view from the room was amazing, we were watching the fog moving to the city.

United KingdomThe last day we stayed there were a few ants in the bathroom. Removed our toothbrushes/toiletries but we put this concern down to the heat of the summer when we visited
Everything was great in Sintra! Lovely breakfast options/buffet with nice clean kitchen and terrace. Comfortable and spotless rooms with great air conditioning. Staff were so kind and helpful. Very quiet space for being just by a busy area. Couldn’t fault this hostel and have already recommended it to family who may travel to Portugal this year.
