While I appreciated the honoring of traditional architecture I found the room where I stayed a bit too dark and den-like. Unlike the common areas which were filled with light. Also a disappointment was the inability to get a massage or yoga/pilates session for lack of a person that Luz could schedule to come to the facility. I recommend letting travelers know that they should book these in advance since there is no spa on site and those providing the services have to come to the property.

Location was very good. A beautiful property with grounds that invite contemplation and relaxation. The walks on the property are bordered by lavender and rosemary planted along the buildings. Together with the many well placed spots to sit and reflect they form an overall sensory treat. While the staff in the reception area were pleasant, with a welcome tea and cookies added at check in, the most solicitous staff members were those in the dining room, where each went out of their way to ensure the dining was a delicious experience. The food was exceptional - can’t say enough about the breakfast- the best and healthiest I’ve had in Portugal stay. Fruit, fresh baked goods, and more, with the staff even making note of my milk allergy. Dinner options need to be provided ahead of time and cost was a little steep.

The choice of their lunch and evening menu was limited, but surpassed by the flavours and taste.

The choice of cereals, fruit, cheeses, meat, bread, jams, fruit juices and fruit was exceptional. We really got into liking the passionfruit and other exotic fruits on offer AND this was just breakfast. We tried both their lunch and evening menu's and the quality and presentation of the food although extremely good. The pool was well heated and clean and I tried the spa treatments which were excellent.

I loved everything about this property.

This property is amazing! I am fortunate to travel often, and i would say this is one of my top 10 of traveling over 30 years. The massage in the cave was exquisite and worth every penny! We also had a fabulous dinner. The breakfast was amazing too.

The dinner was ok…the food was original and fresh ingredients, but the veal was very overcooked and chewy. The desert was not so good. Service at breakfast both mornings was extremely slow. Another server is needed at breakfast. At a minimum, immediate coffee should be availble for all guests. We shouldn’t have to wait 10-15 minutes for coffee each morning.

The room and amenities were excellent. The breakfasts were exceptional..probably the best we had at our 2 weeks of 5 star hotels.

Our stay was fantastic from the beginning to the end. Very special touches at every turn. The staff were delightful and made sure we were happy at all times. The rooms were delightful and quiet and the grounds were beautiful. We ate both dinners there and the food and service was as good as most Michelin restaurants. The chef even came to the table and chatted with us.

We liked a lot. The houses are beautiful and there are many beautiful common spaces outside and inside that provide well-being and tranquility. There is also space for children to play and run without disturbing anyone.

Everything was perfect

We visited Luz Charming Houses for our anniversary and it was really good. They went the extra mile with our room without us even requesting it. The staff were friendly and the food was nice. The pool and the lounge chairs under the trees were especially nice.

The food during the day was only average. The rest was amazing.

Best stay we had in portugal! Staff was welcoming, the pool is warmed and opened at nights, so we could enjoy it even though it wasn't so hot outside. Amazing breakfast. The property is beautiful and the room was amazing. We will definitely come back!
