Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe facilities are great but when the hostel is full it's not always easy to get to the bathroom. There is only 2 toilets for all women.
Good little hostel and the staff are great. It's in a perfect location too.

PortugalThe mattress was pretty thin and it made it not for a super comfortable sleep. My hips were sore the next morning. The bathroom was a good size, showers cleaned however no ventilation. The doors to the rooms didn't have locks and they claimed it was okay because they had cameras. Which for the most part I felt safe but may have felt a tad bit more secure if they did lock. All in all it was a decent stay.
The garden area was small but nice. The kitchen was fully equipped and looked out on to the garden. The guests were all friendly and respectful. They made quiet time 22h which is nice.

United StatesThe hostel wasn't welcoming, I felt like I was walking into a cave, the main areas were dark. Old building without the charm.
The location was really good.

South AfricaThe thin fan doors that semi close so ever but of light and noise is heard. I didn't mind as it was relatively quiet but would feel different if the hostel was full.
Friendly staff, cosy small living area and garden. Close to bus station. Beautiful old building

NetherlandsNot something I don't like but good for people to know: when you walk into the hostel, you have to walk two meters before the light goes on. The hostel itself starts at the second floor.
I loved the garden! And because of how the living area and kitchen are set up, it's really easy to get in contact with other travelers. As I said, the garden is amazing, green and has shadow. I was staying in the 8beddorm which is huge, so more than enough space. Comfy beds and all of the staff are really friendly and welcoming The location is perfect, close to everything

BrazilThey asked my to pay extra money when I renovate for more days. I payed on booking and they asked more in reception. It was a mistake and they gave me back, but If my mother didn’t call them, they probably will keep the extra money.
Locker in my room, lights in my bed to read at night, kitchen ok, clean bathroom.

BrazilI did 2 bookings for my daughter, first just one night and after that 4 nights and they asked extra money for her because “I booked different rooms” but I did not. So I need to call them and ask for recheck. My daughter was alone and that was quite an embarrassing situation. I hope next time staff could be more efficient.
I had everything that I needed.

FinlandIt was really cold. Warm blankets and the showers having hot water saved it, but god was it cold. Lockers are a little small.
Helpful and friendly staff and other guests. Good location. Common areas are nice. Bathrooms and bedrooms definitely not fancy, but functional and not gross.

New ZealandThe only areas for improvement is the beauty of the age of the building means the opening and closing of doors (latches on the doors) can be quite loud. & also the design and insulation of the building makes a 10 person dorm very hard to airate so it can get smelly/stuffy. note: Curtains only for bottom bunks, not too, so less privacy above.
InBraga is in such a great location, so central yet feels secure and secluded. It's small size gave it a nice family atmosphere. People often hang out in the communal kitchen, dining and lounge space which makes for cool opportunities to chat and play some of the board games they have available. The staff were awesome. So helpful with how to navigate Braga and surrounding sights. Stephanie and Rafa were a great help and made me feel at home. Cool to have so many volunteers who are here to help too :) + the sunny patio out back. much needed in January/Febuary cold. Thanks Nelson and team.

GermanyThe most annoying part was that there was nowhere to keep your stuff dry and get dressed after a shower. Was also missing a comfy chill out area. Since it was raining we couldn't use the garden and so all we had was the big table and the few benches in the kitchen.
Highlight was definitely the staff!! The guy in the early shifts was just amazing. So friendly, helpful and always smiling! Thank you so much🙌 Kitchen was well equipped and good, beds were comfy and everything was clean.
