Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe weather was chilly and it took a long time for the heater to warm the room
location was perfect. Close to the main part of town but quiet. It had a homely feel and the lounge area upstairs was a good spot to chat with other guests.

PortugalTwo of the rooms were in either side of the shared bathroom. So when people came during the night (1.30am and 2.30 am), they would go to the bathroom and it would wake you up. The door knobs are very old so they make a lot of noise even if trying to be quiet.
the house is quircky and old style. Rooms were clean. THe staff was very welcoming. The big advantage is that is it within the walls of the town.

United StatesTo access the separate though private bathroom, one had to go through hallway past several other rooms. The multiple keys to main door, room door, and bathroom door were heavy and a little noisy while trying to find which key fits each keyhole. Having key labels would help easier room identification. No airconditioning on a warm humid night. Can't open window fully because windows were unscreened against flying insects. To access WiFi, you need to stay in shared public rooms.
Location close to bus stop outside the city gate.

GermanyGreat location. Loved the cozy common area where you can relax, read and enjoy your tea. There are also various mini kitchen appliances, near the main entrance, for all the guests to use.

CanadaWe stayed only one night and did not spend much time in the hotel. The walls are paper thin though, so you can hear others talking but it did not bother us.
Hotel is within the walls so location is great.

United StatesThe main and pretty much only problem I had with it was how hot it was in the city with no A/C. It was a tiny room too so you could not get a cross breeze.
Staff was amazing. The guy owns the restaurant next door and it’s delicious. The location is perfect and Obidos is so small you can walk around everything with ease.

PortugalThe toilet was too small and the door was not very easy to close, but for one night it was ok. The pillows could be a bit more comfortable but again this depends on people's taste. The worst thing that happened and could've been avoid is the fact that on Google maps there are two streets with the same name, and as I didn't manage, somehow, to use the link on booking.com to go directly to the the guest house we ended up on the wrong street which was super faraway. This could've been avoid if the person from the guest house with who I had been talking just the day before to our arrival would have told me about this fact of the two streets. But everything went well at the end. Just leaving here this situation so that if anyone goes to this beautiful guest house knows about it and avoids the trap.
The room was lovely. The location is amazing The owner received us in a very polite way. Some testes (tea and coffee and some cookies) were at our disposal and I find it a lovely gesture

United StatesLocation is great! It's right by an entrance up to the top of the city walls and close to the bus stop. It's a bit tough to find so know it's attached to the Adega do Ramada restaurant, door and tiny sign just next to it. If no one is there to open the door, go to the restaurant.
