Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicThe bathroom is located at the end of the apartment so for a toilet you have to go through other room.
The apartment location is great, it is at the edge of historic centre, really close to exit from the gardens around Villa Sassetti (recommend to go in the gardens from above, great views and free). It has a nice collection of books (in Portuguese, French, English, maybe more). Kitchen is small but decent. There is a Nespresso coffee machine and the capsules was there for us upon arrival, which was really nice. We wished to come little earlier and the host was really helpful and managed that for us as soon as possible.

United StatesThere should be a second dehumidifier. it’s very humid and the one machine couldn’t keep up with the whole apartment. we spent a long time looking for a way to pay for parking to find out from our taxi driver that those spots are free. the hosts should know the parking spots after the Sabuga fountain on the left and by the gate of Italiana house are free! casa Ferradura is within steps of these parking spots. definitely take taxis up to see the Palaces
The location is excellent! Very close to shops and restaurants as well as sightseeing.

PeruThere should be some warning about the stairs, definitely not disabled-friendly. The bathroom door did not open from the inside, and the bathroom's faucets were very loose. The window's cannot be locked, they will stay shut but will not lock.
The location is great but DEFINITELY go by taxi, because if you go from the train station, it is a 13-minute walk, but it is downhill and then UPHILL. The place was bigger than we expected, it has two floors. Very cozy. And the check-in was very easy. It is close to an active area, shops, and restaurants, while the actual apartment is very quiet. As a recommendation, order an uber instead of taking the taxi's that are around, it is x3 times cheaper. And don't walk to the apartment with luggage because our carry-on's wheels broke because of the pavement!

United StatesProbably that's not a problem in summer, but in December when we stayed there the apartment was terribly humid with water literally dripping from the window frames. Water pressure in the bathroom was not great either.
Great location, overweighs all the shortcomings. You stay in the prettiest part of Sintra, and you can walk to most of the palaces in the area with an occasional Uber trip. The house is very old, and the host did their best to make it comfortable.

PolandWe didn’t know that the bedrooms are walk-through rooms, so in order to get to the bathroom, you have to go through two bedrooms. What is more, the apartment looks better in the pictures. Beds were not very comfortable, but for one night it was okay :)
The location was perfect, very close to the city center. It was clean and generally we liked the place.

PortugalDue to the weather in Sintra older houses can be a bit damp. The room smelled a bit damp when arriving and it’s not possible to sleep with the windows open to get fresh air in. The shower is super tiny. Some stains on the bed and holes in the pillow case.
Fantastic location and super quiet at night. Comfortable bed also.

EstoniaMaybe it was the season, but the apartment was a bit chilly and moist. Even with the radiator on (we had to turn it off whn we weren't there, so it was still ratjer cold when we arrived after a long touristy day). The towels were also a bit humid when we arrived. If you're used to having a lot more than 20 degrees celsius indoors, this might not be the place during low season.
The host was very helpful, meeting our extra needs. The place was easy to find and very central. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bed was comfortable. The TV had the most channels I've ever seen! Thank you for having us!

United Arab EmiratesThe bathroom tap is spraying water it needs fixing, toilet lid is faulty - doesn’t stay up. I would advise to take taxi or Uber to this property if arriving from sintra train station with big bags, Google maps advises only 12 min short walk but it doesn’t mention steep uphill steps/climbing plus it a bit hard to find in the dark. the location would be perfect, it’s very close distance to the main restaurants, shops and bars, if staying in high season, I visited in Feb 2021 but sadly everything closed at 7/8pm ( I didn’t know things would close so early) so for me it was useless to stay in such a prime location. Not a great coffee or tea selection sadly, and no shops or supermarket open nearby.
Super cute, cosy, good layout, good for a short stay, clean and modern. Liked how bright it was and liked the renovation. Host is easily contactable, responds fast and speaks good English ☺️ loved the fact she put the heater on ready for my evening arrival. Tv and WiFi works great. But password is hard to remember.

South KoreaI stayed in November. The apartment is extremely humid and you can see and smell mold, especially in the second floor bathroom and main bedroom. The apartment has no central heating, and the 2 heating units that are in the apartment were not enough for the 2 bedrooms upstairs and living room downstairs (I had to carry one heating unit up and down the stairs). Although the apartment has 2 bedrooms, you have to walk through the main bedroom to get to the bathroom. This is not a problem if you are traveling with family or close friends, I suppose. Bathroom was cold and heating unit above the door did not work. The apartment has good potential but it seems to need a little work.
Location was very good, although parking was stressful. Sintra has very limited parking in town, most "free" parking lots are in the outskirts of town. I was lucky to have been told by a local resident, not the hostess, on where to park for free near the apartment. I was under the impression that there would be parking nearby if I arrived late, but was told otherwise when I arrived around 8 PM.

MalaysiaMisrepresentation of facts. This is definitely NOT a 2-room apartment. In order to go to the bathroom, you have to pass through another bedroom! I believe the other room was originally a study room. The place is old. The toilet ceiling paint is peeling and the hinges to the windows were rusting. The water in the shower is slow and it's a struggle to take a bath. The beds we uncomfortable to sleep on.
Just the location. Communication was poor. We WhatsApp them but they never replied until hours before we check-in.

United Statesthere is NO air conditioning despite their noting it. it is an air filter that has NO ability to control temperature and most importantly humidity. It was VERY uncomfortable, in part due to a colder and rainy day. Sheets felt full of moisture, truly a terrible night. This place would be pleasant if and ONLY if they actually do what they claim, which is to really invest in an air conditioner. At the very least a dehumidifier.

United KingdomThe studio apartment was very damp and humid, there was a mouldy smell in the apartment and everything we took with us ended up becoming damp. The kitchen needs improving as the drawers and doors were swollen with damp. There was no coffee machine as specified on the listing and they needed a lot of new bowls/plates/cutlery/pots/pans etc. Good thing we just used the place to sleep but even the mattress and pillows were damp, made for some unsettled sleep.
The location was good and easy to get into Sintra to see the sights.

United StatesAt 108 euros a night (for a family of 4), we expected something better! The pictures are deceiving. The apartment needs thorough cleaninng and basic renovation like changing the shower head (it is held together by tape) changing the microwave (very rusty and dirty)... Lots of rust in the bathroom, and stains on the carpet... Kitchen area could be cleaner. Glasses in the cabinet were dirty too. We only used the glasses... Parking is very difficult in Sintra, and the only advice we got from the host was to arrive after 7pm in order to find parking, which was not an option for us. The host didn't respond to our message exposing the problems with the apartment.
Location (right in the center of town) and brightness of the apartment. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of Sintra when all the tourists are gone (evening and early morning)

SpainThis place could have scored highly but was let down by poor maintenance. It was damp and fusty when we arrived and smelt so bad we were unable to use the main bedroom where there is no airflow. We left the windows open which helped but the smell had sunk into the fabric furniture. They need to install some air bricks and some fans to allow the air to circulate and wash all the fabrics. The shower hose was broken so the shower had to be hand held. there was a new one in the cupboard but we couldn’t unscrew the original to remove it, besides which it’s not our job to fix it. The water pressure was very patchy. At times there was no water in the bathroom which was a nightmare given we were there during a heatwave. The place was not very clean. There was dust on the top shelves and under the beds. There are no wardrobes, shelves or rails to hang your clothes. The two bedrooms and the bathroom run off each other from the stairs so you have to walk through them to get too and from the bathroom. There is no fix for this and it wasn’t a major problem for us but something you should be aware of.
Great location in the old town, walking distance to all the palaces, lovely traditional building, nearby parking available. check in/out was easy.
