Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelThe only problem is there isn't any way to get food at the hotel after breakfast hours, and it is not walking distance from anywhere else except for the fancy restaurant. We were lucky that the receptionist was kind and let us take some leftovers from breakfast, when we didn't feel so well after all the wine tastings.
Very beautiful place. We loved walking around the vines. The room was good, beds comfortable. Acceptable breakfast and the restaurant and service there were very nice.

United StatesGuests should be aware that there is a 200-meter walk from the hotel to the restaurant, where parking is limited.
The peace and serenity of staying in a working vineyard at the end of the season. Walks in the beautiful vineyard. The hotel restaurant served superb food with wonderful service. They were particularly attentive to my wife's needs for gluten-free dishes.

PortugalThe staff were quite unfriendly which was a shame. Given the remote location, it was difficult to spend the whole day in the hotel as there was no access to lunchtime menu / bar service or any snacks at all, which was a surprise.
The property was very peaceful, and the pool area was comfortable and spacious. The setting was beautiful

Very quiet location, comfortable room and bed, and the poolside area is very pleasant. Homemade breakfast with great quality and friendly staff. Good common areas to hang out in and access to a small kitchen with utensils. The wine is of superior quality for wine lovers.

United StatesLoved everything!
We never wanted to leave! After a day of wine tasting, we drove onto the property and were immediately blown away. Beautiful place in the middle of the vineyards. Staff were so helpful! They arranged dinner for us that evening and showed us to our room a few steps away from the main building. Breakfast was yummy. Pool was delightful. You could help yourself to beverages from the fridge near the kitchen and just leave a note about what you took. Chatted with the other guests and felt like we could have all just hung out there for days.

United KingdomWonderful peaceful location. Beautifully positioned in the vineyard. Very comfortable hotel. Lovely breakfast and a great honesty bar with numerous wines and beers and soft drinks. Restaurant had a fixed price menu - nouveau cuisine - lovely but after a hard days walking an option for a more hearty meal would have been welcome .

Lovely quinta located in the middle of a beautiful vineyard. Great, knowledgable and welcoming staff, lovely breakfast, easy access to their wine cellars (an architectural marvel), nice pool area.

NetherlandsThe family rooms were situated in an old cellar. This was nice and cool but it smelled a bit moldy and there weren’t many light fixtures so it was quite dark in the room.
Beautiful setting, great pool and views of the vineyard. Within 20 min via a scenic route at the Douro river. Great restaurant on the premises.

NetherlandsThe restaurant was really good, but is located 600 meters from the main house so you need to walk quite a bit. The swimming pool is unheated and the water was very cold, even though it was hot outside. The hotel is rather isolated, you need a car to go anywhere interesting.
The hotel is very beautiful, in the style of an old hacienda house, in the middle of vinyard fields. The room was very spacious and comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the vinyards. The hotel is part of a wine/port production (Quinta del Portal) and the cellars can be visited nearby.

CanadaThe windy road getting to the Quinta.
The property is situated on a lovely vineyard. The road getting to the property was a bit windy. We had a lovely stay and our room had a great view of the vineyard. We had dinner at the restaurant in Quinta do Portal. It was a great dinner. It was a set price dinner. The food was great although a bit pricey.

BelgiumThe reception, restaurant and rooms all are a good 5-10 min walk away from each other. The restaurant while excellent is fine dining with limited food options. So you might not go there more than once in your stay. And the region is full of wine estates so there are not many restaurants in the vicinity, and those that are there offer similar type of food. It's better to sort out dinner plans in advance for each day of stay. The wine tasting has no non-alcoholic drinks for kids.
The hotel is located in a beautiful wine estate. The place has a vintage feel. The staff are helpful, the amenities are good. It is also easy to reach by car and once inside, there are clear directions to find the different buildings. The breakfast offered was fresh and tasty. They even started early for us since we had to catch a flight. The restaurant is near Michelin level quality and service. The wines on offer were fantastic. The wine info and tasting tour in their winery was also very good. Overall, the price for the quality offered for everything at the hotel is great. Very much recommended!
