The place was perfect

Do not be put off, when you first see the hotel . Behind the entrance door is a spectacular hotel. The architecture is amazing and makes the place welcoming as soon as you enter, the staff are very helpful and when shown to our room , we had a short guided history of the building, which was very insightful. The room (Z) was very clean with a lot of character, highly recommended, will definitely go back again

Beautiful hotel in a central location near the river and tourist district. Love that it looks very unassuming from outside but pretty much a hidden gem once you travel in. Also pretty quiet given how central it is. The staff are also very nice and helpful

Difficult to reach by car. Navigation apps will fail. Property should provide directions how to get there by car.

A deceptive, worryingly underwhelming, facade/entrance leads to a fine interior with very friendly, helpful staff, comfortable immaculate rooms, pleasant smallish garden, seating area and 'honesty' bar. An impressive hotel. Great location within easy walk of the waterside areas and bridges across to Porto. We, unfortunately, had to urgently return home and the staff were wonderfully understanding and helpful.

We got lucky with street parking in front. But if you must go to off site public parking it would add a bit more inconvenience. Also, the man who was at morning reception was not as nice as the afternoon reception woman.

Great location, beautifully restored historic building. Nice breakfast. The “honor bar” was a nice touch. Very nice staff overall.

We were pleased with all aspects of our stay

Property exceeded all our expectations. Rooms were very clean and quiet. The breakfasts were on site and included a wide assortment of healthy and delicious choices. The availability of the self service wine and snacks on an honor system was brilliant. The outdoor terrace area was well kept, attractively landscaped and created a very private place to relax. The property was well located within easy walk to the Villa Nova De Gaia waterfront, shops, and places to sample Portugal’s food, wine, and Port. We were fortunate to have found the Caleway.

Location and staff were amazing. When first getting dropped off we weren’t quite sure - but once inside - wow. It’s a converted building with quaint sitting areas, an honor bar, and a very good breakfast. Our room had a balcony overlooking the court yard and it was so quiet and peaceful! It’s convenient to visiting the Nova side of the river and an easy walk over to Porto. And the staff were friendly and very helpful.
