Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

CanadaBecause many people come to this town for hiking, climbing up stairs should not be an issue, though some might want to have an elevator. The Ponchos restaurant (partnered with the hotel) has a 10% descuento for hotel guests, though the price point for the restaurant might be un poco caro. Note that because the train runs beside the hotel, it might be loud when the train passes. However, for me, hay no problema.
This hotel is very clean and well-maintained. Muchas turistas come specifically for going up Machu Picchu, and the hotel offers gratis left luggage cloak room services inside a closet. There is steady hot water in the shower and the internet is reliable. The manager arranged for a trusted English-speaking guide who met me at the hotel at 5:30 am. Desayuno is served from 5 am to 8 am, so I was able to eat breakfast before going up Machu Picchu.

PeruBE AWARE! When u pay at the reception they will ask you for a 10% "service fee", when we asked what for... they said:"u don't have to pay it!" Wtf? At the end we found out that they are trying to charge you extra, because booking.com charges them a lot. Keep insisting on the final price that bookimg showes you and u are fine. Bathroom smelled a little bit of canalization sometimes.
Very comfy beds, hot shower with very good stream, clean and warm room, cute little balcony. We booked a room with twin beds and pulled them together to have more space. You get 10% discount in the restaurant (vegan + vegetarian options), price normal like everywhere else in town; very good breakfast. Great location - very close to bus station and arrivimg train station! Room looks like in the pictures. You can also borrow a hair dryer! Staff was really friendly, except the receptionist asking for more money!

United StatesIt was loud at night. Thin walls? You can hear the city, etc. Just have some ear plugs available for a quiet night.
Amazing staff. Allowed us to store luggage for the day. The restaurant was a highlight! Very good food! Free breakfast started at 5:30am!

BelgiumCommon area such as stairs and corridors would need to be better maintained and cleaned. Our toilet small window was facing the corridor and partially broken, which would be good to fix.
Conveniently located, unfortunately we could not have breakfast in the property due to our early booking in Machu Picchu, but it looked good.

United StatesThe train is loud, yes, but runs infrequently after 9 pm or so. The other guests/restaurant patrons were much louder and kept us up for a while.
The location is very convenient; about a 5-7 minute walk from the train station and not even 2 minutes from the bus stop. The room was very tidy and spacious. The restaurant downstairs (Poncho's) was incredible, really delicious food and good service. The only person we dealt with at the hotel was very friendly (even greeting us at the train station and walking over to the hotel with us, which we didn't request), but didn't appear to speak English. Was fine in our case as we speak enough Spanish.

CanadaThe breakfast was just okay; a wider variety of options would have been appreciated. Additionally, my stay coincided with a town celebration, which meant that it was quite noisy from the street. Although this wasn’t directly the hotel’s fault, it did affect the overall tranquility of my stay.
I had a pleasant stay at this hotel thanks to its fantastic location and wonderful staff. It's conveniently located near the bus station, and the service extended to picking me up from the train station, which was a lovely touch. The room boasted a great king bed and was meticulously clean, making for a very comfortable stay.

ItalyAt night when the train comes your room literally shakes and the noise will make it impossible to not wake up, I don't know if that day we were particularly unlucky but they kept coming all night including at 2 am... it was impossible to get a good night sleep
A nice hotel room, in the best location in Aguas Calientes, only 5 mins from the bus stop to Machu Picchu. The staff in Both the restaurant and hotel is absolutely great! also, a note for the restaurant that prepares excellent food!

IsraelThe double bed is small, about 1.40m or less. The breakfast was very basic - just bread, jam, butter, eggs, juice and coffee or tea. There were no hot water in the shower, we had to wait more than 40 minutes for it to be resolved.
Central location, cosy room, staff was very helpful. We enjoyed the restaurant on the ground floor, with 10% discount for hotel guests.
