Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyLike at a lot of places there theres a bit of a water problem but theres enough to shower… Far away from a big supermarket…
Its right next to the ocean, you have a great view from the terrace area, its a really big house which is really open and theres space for everyone, theres even a room just for Yoga. The people that work there are really welcoming and friendly. They do events like bonfire, karaoke and movie nights for free. Its a really good place to chill and enjoy the beach and surfing.

United StatesAmazing place. The building is beautiful and the deck and front lawn have the best view in Lobitos but the people are what make it so special. The staff and volunteers are beyond friendly. From the moment I arrived they treated me like family, invited Me out to dinner, to surf and to cook and eat with them. Can’t wait to go back!

BrazilAmazing location, just a few steps from the sand. The view is unique and spectacular. Watching the sunset at La Casona's balcony is a true experience. The staff was amazing. Both Fiorela and Oscar made everything they could to make me feel at home, and it really feels like home. The volunteer staff was great also.

International staff/volunteers and local staff made my days wonderful, made me feel like one of them. They are always caring and joyful; they will help you with whatever you need. Breakfast is simple but fair enough 👌 Rooms are clean and comfortable. Location of the house is the best in town; it has definitely the best view of all.

United Statesit wasn’t very clean, nor did you see anyone do cleaning. the staff were volunteers so they weren’t very knowledgeable, probably because they aren’t there very long. didn’t get sheets or towels when we switched rooms, didn’t even get a lock when we switched rooms. there wasn’t running water in our private showers, in both rooms, or even the public shower, even after they confirmed there’d be water. overall just felt like some of the staff didn’t have the tools to accommodate us. the breakfast is obsolete. overall a high price for what you get.
the location has a nice view. the maintenance man was very active though, seemed to be fixing things.

United StatesLa Casona has a lot of potential. The impression I got from the website and Booking.com was that there was a restaurant on premises. There isn't. Also it looked like they had yoga classes/mats available, but when we asked one of the foreign employees said "there were mats last week, but I don't know what happened to them." There is no breakfast or any food service. Markets in Lobitos are limited so best to stock up in Talara. There are plenty of good places to eat in town: La Cora has excellent cebiche and Relajate is a good restaurant right on the beach. The WiFi also doesn't work so be aware of that, though one doesn't go to Lobitos to surf the web, it is good to have access in a pinch. The Casona has a great terrace for viewing the sunset but very little is in the shade and there is a total lack of mats and cushions to be comfortable out there. Also, the hammocks they have are more like fishing nets and really uncomfortable. In short, La Casona has all the makings for a great place to stay and with the most minimal improvements it could be much better.
La Casona is in a marvelous location, with the best sunset views in Lobitos. It is an historic building and the staff was friendly, though most are fellow travelers who work there so local knowledge is limited. Oscar, the owner of the property, is very kind and was generous enough to take us to a secret surf spot nearby. That was very kind of him to do. He is very knowledgeable about the area. There are spots to hang your wetsuits and store your boards in an inner courtyard. There is also tea available in a nice salon area and an art gallery on the premises. You can walk to most everything. The rooms are spartan but comfortable enough. The bed was very comfortable. Water is precious along the coast of Peru and Lobitos is no exception. Most everything is done with water tanks rather than running taps. Be aware that there are no bath towels provided to guests. But the beer is ice cold!
