It’s not easily accessible by car, so just be ready to be out of breath because you’ll usually get dropped off at the bottom of the stairs. If not physically able to do that then you probably want to stay somewhere else.

Maykquell, the owner, was so incredibly nice. The hospitality was wonderful, he worked with me on my timelines, held my luggage while gone to aguas calientes. Responded to messages quickly. Would stay here again for sure.

The breakfast is quite basic. The room we were in was very small (but it was ok, as we were only staying one night). Although the reception was supposed to be open 24h/24h, when we arrived the hotel was closed and nobody was there. We had to wait for 20 minutes until we could reach someone on the phone, who explained to us that there was a key accessible nearby that we could use to enter.

The location is ideal. The rooms (and the hotel in general) is extremely cute, tidy and clean.

When staying in such places you need to have shampoo, conditioner and soap. the staff was very friendly, but one evening when we returned after a hard day, no one warned us that there would be no hot water until the morning, which was very important for us to take a shower after the excursion. We survived but it would be nice if they informed us.

Good place to travel, Peruvian style hostal with beautiful views of the city, delicious breakfast. The owners was nice when we arrived.

My stay at Madre Tierra definitely exceeded my expectations. Maykquell and Gladys were extremely welcoming and they went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and to make sure I felt at home at Madre Tierra. This was especially meaningful to me as a solo traveler - it really makes a difference to have someone looking out for you! The beds are extremely comfortable, and the room I had had beautiful views of Cusco and the night sky. The room was spotless and I loved the decoration. I would stay there again without a doubt. Maykquell & Gladys are the kindest, most welcoming hosts. The guesthouse is beautiful, the breakfasts are delicious, the wifi is very strong, beds are comfy and showers are lovely. The location couldn’t be better! We stayed for four nights before our visit to Machu Picchu and another three nights after, we would love to be able to stay here in again in the future.

We had an amazing stay in Hostal Madre Tierra. The location was perfect in the cosy area San Blas. The whole hostal and the rooms were nicely decorated, it felt really cosy and warm! Host Maykquell and his wife made us feel like we were at our second home. They were very friendly and extremely helpfull. Every night we got a hot water bottle to keep warm in bed, these details made us feel like we were in a home instead of a hotel. When we came back to Cusco after our trekking we stayed again at Madre Tierra because we had such a good time.

Beds were not the comfiest but also not the worst.

The hosts were incredible. They were so warm. Surprised my fiancé for his 40th birthday with cake and balloons at breakfast. Were always eager to help, arranged many taxis for us. We decided to go back on our return to Cusco and would happily stay again. We also took a tour from them that they suggests and it was great.

Mayquell and Gladys were excellent hosts! Kind and patient, accommodating and inviting. Can’t recommend this place enough. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We slept very well after a long day of sightseeing. They helped us book a nice half day tour. After three days, we checked out since we took the Salkantay tour to visit Machu Picchu and they let us store our stuff since we were going to come back at the end of the week. Most accommodating hosts!

We had a wonderful time at Madre Tierra! The hosts are the best! They are super nice, they can speak english and they helped us in everyhing. They allowed us to store our bags for no extra fees while we were doing the Salkantay trek. I'm recommending this place to everybody. As a plus, they have heating in the rooms which is very rare in Peru, and you need it when it is below freezing outside.
