Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe wifi did not reach the room but it worked well in the common areas.
We stayed here for two nights at the end of our time in Peru. The host was kind and helpful. Breakfast was delicious each morning--coffee, eggs, bread, and fruit. The location was great--quiet and easy to walk to Barranco and Miraflores. We loved spending time with the cats here. The room itself was small and a bit cramped for two people, with only a window looking into a common area below, but it was clean, the price was great, and we were only in our room to sleep so it was not a problem. The shower was hot. The common area on the roof was nice.

New ZealandThe street where it's located feels a bit rough but not unsafe. Very far from the town centre (but my mistake for not researching). The area wasn't as "bohemian" as I was expecting, which is why I chose Barranco as opposed to staying in Miraflores again. My room was up a steep narrow circular staircase. The room was quite damp (as Lima often is) - a small fan heater would've been useful. The light outside the window is on all night and although there is a curtain on it, it's not that effective in blocking out the light. The room could benefit from a narrow table / bookshelf to put your things on. Quite a small room ( also my mistake for not noticing) and little clearance around the toilet (if you are plus-size). Biggest problem was the internet didn't work upstairs and from talking to the owner this seems to be a regular problem. I was working online so couldn't work in my room, but he made space for me to work downstairs. Note that although the house seems big ( because rooms are on both levels) the common areas are quite small. I think Willy is doing a fabulous job and the place has a nice vibe but I thought it was a bit over-priced (not for Barranco) but compared to a double room with bathroom and breakfast in Miraflores. Suitable more for younger backpackers/ people staying in dorms.
The host Willy and his family were incredibly welcoming and work very hard to ensure their guests are happy. Check in was professional and friendly. Organised a drop off at the airport for me (for a free). Breakfast was good. At first I found the decor and house design a big overwhelming but then it grew on me. It very much is a family home, but still run professionally like a hostel, and well organised. Kitchen is well-equipped. Extremely clean room. Helped me carry my bags up and down. Had a little shared patio outside the room. Not far from a local market and about 20 mins walk to a supermarket.

GermanyThis family hostel was my home for three weeks in Lima. You will be hosted by kind and funny travellers. The hostel lays at the edge of Barranco and Miraflores so it's not far to any of both centers. The street is very quite which will ensure you a good night sleep!

The host was super helpful with advice regarding the area and with arranging shuttle to and from the airport. Very good home cooked breakfast. CanadaThe staff was really great! It was the first hostel we slept in in Peru and I found the staff very helpful, the hostel is really cute and the room is small but cozy (I personally don't care about the size of my room when I travel, so the fact that it was small is not a downside for me at all) Didn't have the chance to stay at the hostel for a long time because we had to leave early the day after, but would have liked to know the place a bit more. The neighborhoods are gorgeous, we are not far from the sea side, we walked about 25 km that day without even noticing because we were just in awe with the beautiful colors, statues, gardens around!

IrelandNot a negative for me but as an FYI to others, as it is family run, spaces like the kitchen and sitting room are shared. Great if you want to practice your Spanish!

GermanyJust minor things, but nothing to be worried about. I was missing a few better options to unpack the backpack. Water pressure in the showers is a bit weak but it's personal preference. Nothing serious to complain! :)
Super friendly hosts, really feels like being part of a family. Good recommendations to move around Lima and facilities are okay as well. Nice breakfast is served and multiple bathrooms available. Location is good as well, in Barranco, close to restaurants, cafes, supermarkets and public transport. Walking distance to the beach side which is a great spot for running!

BelgiumThe water heater sometimes turns off for a few seconds. Also the water in the neighbourhood was out for some time, however, since this is mandated by the water company, the hostel had no say in it.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. Also, the hostel is located in a quiet neighbourhood, so we got a good night's sleep in the comfortable bed.

NetherlandsI would highly recommend the Beraja hostel to everyone visiting Lima! As a couple, the room with private bathroom was perfect to relax in after a couple of long flights. The hostel has a quaint, lovely atmosphere and a very good breakfast, but best of all, a hospitable host to make your stay worthwhile!

VietnamLocation is slightly outside of the center of Barranco, but it's still only a 10min walk, so really that's not a problem :))
Super super lovely place, the owner very helpful and attentive! I love the very homey vibe of this place, its small and sweet. Additionally u can use their kitchen! The owner makes you a very good breakfast as well 😻 such a shame there wasn't more people there when I arrived. Instead of going where everyone goes, to kokopeli, come here, u will surely get a more personalized treatment and family vibes ❤️
