Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe also stayed in the pirate ship. It was a little run down but nothing we weren't prepared for. Unfortunately, we later discovered a cobweb just above one of the beds that was housing an entire family of baby spiders as well as a parent. There were also about 10 dead ants on the tissues provided. Although the pirate ship was a good novelty and cheap accommodation on an island that is otherwise extremely expensive, it appeared as though the room had not had a recent thorough clean which was much needed.
We stayed in the Adventure Galley and it was absolutely lovely with a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom, as well as a TV. The owners are lovely people who add a nice personal touch at every opportunity

New ZealandWe could not find a key, there was a wasp nest and a leaking alcathen pipe to the hose caused the water pump to go off regularly.
Off the beaten track, quiet and private. The kids loved the pirate theme, costumes were a nice touch

United KingdomThe bed was falling apart and the outside chair was broken and needs replacing. When we arrived and opened up the property there was a cluster of ants in the doorway as well as a cluster of ants above the bed in the ceiling. We noticed there is also no insulation in the ceiling. The shrubs around the accommodation, where the tap is located, is all over growing and need to be cut and tidied up. Also the place was not equipped with bowls and plates for eating. The general plumbing of the bathroom was not up to regulation as the water feeding the building was run in garden hose pipe and not a proper type of pipe that you would generally use which I don't beleive is up to health code standards.
I liked the view, apart from that we weren't very satisfied by the accommodation.

SwitzerlandWe were a group of six and booked the pirate ship, the crows nest and a studio. The studio was nice, the crows nest and the pirate ship were quite cute, but the public bathroom that had to be used by the pirate ship and crows nest wasn’t nice at all. The facility that has the shower is basically a dirty shack filled with bugs and could definitely use an upgrade. Keep that in mind when booking one of these two.
Beautiful location

New ZealandThe bed...omg it was a double bed and an old or cheap one at that. A double bed for 2 adults is a tight fit by today's standards. I don't think double beds are actually for sale now? I did not like that the toilet did not have a lid. Just the toilet seat. As mentioned above, great for disabilty access accommodation but the driveway would not be friendly on a wheelchair or a walking frame or someone who is not so steady on their feet. Crockery and cutlery were mismatching. We only had 1 large spoon for eating our Sunday breakfast but there was a teaspoon so we made do. Overall, this place has great potential but it's just a bit cheaply finished.
Beautiful view from the deck and in fact while lying in bed. Excellent that this particular room at Wild Days was wheel chair accessible once you got over the rough driveway.

FijiIt was too far from places I needed to get to and at least 15 minutes walk to the nearest bus stop ( I walked pretty fast). Taxis a very expensive on Waiheke. The ad states that there's a beach nearby (1km) but it must be about 30 minutes walk away at least. No offer of a pick up or drop off, so won't be going there again.
I liked it that it was clean and comfortable and very private.

AustraliaThe gravel driveway, it was raining so it was just a bit muddy, but wasn’t a big deal.
It was a very quiet spot with a great view. I liked how the cabin was accessible, very cute, tidy and the bed very comfortable, it was just what we needed, a warm and peaceful stay.

New ZealandNot a real downside, but would be good for the sheets to be dried better on wetter days such as ours, although I understand that being sustainable is a big part of their priority
Easy contactless check-in for 3x units. Everything was clean and they provided the necessities to have a comfortable stay. Rooms were warm enough during a cold weekend and some great views in the morning. Nice to have Netflix when we need wind down at night. Quite peaceful and enjoyed our stay! Thanks for having us, Charlie
