New ZealandKakapo Lodge is comfortable and practical with shared bathroom and kitchen spaces. The whole complex is clean, tidy, warm and equipped with all the necessary amenities one needs for a great stay. We particularly enjoyed the fire being lit in the common areas as we stayed whilst it was getting colder, and the curtains being closed early evening in all the common areas. The owner/staff we interacted with were always super friendly, available when needed and professional. I highly recommend Kakapo Lodge.

New ZealandWould have appreciated a heads up that the local pool would be closed two days and that a total township power outage from 11am to 4pm was happening during our stay. We could have changed our dates or added extra days.
Clean room, quiet end of corridor, good view, bonus balcony nearby to catch the afternoon sun outside, hair drier and electric blankets a real bonus for the price of the room. Communal kitchen facilities clean to a high standard and decked out complete with coffee plungers and wine glasses. Very quick to communicate we had left behind a head-torch so hadn't left the property and able to collect.

Motel is located close to everything and hot springs about a 5 min walk. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Communal kitchen was clean and large with plenty of tables and chairs. Lounge downstairs is nice with fireplace. Staff friendly.

The location was superb with an easy walk to Hanmer shops, restaurants and hot pools. The lodge was very clean and warm with a lovely sunny deck and fire roaring in the reception area. The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to give us a car park to ensure security for our mountain bikes.

We were blown away by how absolutely pristine and well kept this place was. Our room and all of the shared facilities were spotless and so well cared for. The location is amazing, a short and easy walk to the town centre. Staff were efficient and helpful and the communal areas were cost and comfortable.
