Quiet location and quiet room. Very comfortable bed and decor was fresh and clean. The staff were friendly and efficient and the breakfast delicious. I also loved having a bath in our bathroom.

We arrived at the hotel and parked out the front, we had not been sent any information about parking so asked at the desk when checking in where we could park. We arrived in two separate cars as came from different work places, the person at the desk said the concierge would park them and gave us ticket stubbs with numbers on. When we came to check out the next morning they charged us $60 PER CAR. We know we can get parking at downtown carpark in town for $16 overnight or up to 12 hours so we were very annoyed that they had not told us the charge before parking the cars. Apparently it was written on the ticket stubb but we did not read this and it was not pointed out to us. This was one third more the cost of staying there overnight which we had saved for weeks for and put rather a damper on the experience and made it not good value for money after all!

We booked a ocean view which was great with plenty of busy wharf and some Rangitoto and water views. The bed and bathroom was large and clean. The bed was quite soft which suited me but not my husband as he woke with a very sore back.

Dinner in the restaurant was poor with staff bringing our second course before we had even finished our first course as they seemed to want to go home.

The room was big and comfortable with a fabulous view across the harbour. The room for breakfast was great and there was excellent choice.

The rooms need updating. I had to change rooms as it wasn’t as advertised. The second room still wasn’t that great.

The price of the bottled water in the room! On the bottle in big writing, it read, "Refreshing and free," and then in tiny writing, which we didn't read, it said, "For members." I thought this was poor advertising. The giant "free" was very misleading and when we got charged $7 for the bottle of water that comes in a pack of 20 at the supermarket for $10, it was poor. Water should be free, a basic necessity.

The room was light and fresh. The duvet cover and bed were so comfortable and clean. Our view was exactly what we asked for, as we asked to be on the highest floor. and our request was met. I would like to point out the door staff. When we arrived on Saturday, we were greeted with a lovely smile and generosity as soon as we stood outside our car. On Sunday, the man at the door was constantly walking around, asking people how their morning was, if they wanted their car brought over, and anything else we needed, I thought this was exceptional and made myself and my partner feel very special.

Everybody responded to our requests and we appreciated that they did. However great service comes from those that anticipate the needs of their "house guests" and don't wait to be asked.

Nice airy lobby. Great view from the room. Bed was very comfortable and breakfast was great. The staff checking in were pleasant, if not a bit formal. The two concierge guys were very helpful with getting us a cab and providing local information - very friendly.
